  1. Highlighting text has stopped working properly in Adobe Acrobat Pro (version 2024.002.20759) on Mac OS Sonoma 14.5. A highlight can be added but after doing so the contextual menu no longer appears, so the user cannot easily change the colour of the highlight or delete it. I notice that this functionality does still work on the Chrome extension version of Acrobat, but it would be very useful to get this bug fixed in the Mac app.

  2. Drawing a rectangle and adjusting the fill color opacity is not really a highlight. Instead it causes the object or text behind to look faded. Can we get a true highlight feature within the "Draw Rectangle" tool?

  3. After the recent update, Acrobat accepts blank spaces in comments, which is very good news.
The bad news is that comments containing just a blank space are incorrectly imported back in Indesign (see image).

  4. I was reviewing some comments, accepting, rejecting etc. and for no reason a blank white pop up with Abode Acrobat heading popped up disabling me from being able to save or continue with the only option being to end adobe in task manager. Why am I paying money for this software I wonder?

  5. On theipad, this settings option is not available and its extremely frustrating because I would like to read/annotate on my ipadt I can then export (essentially exporting my "notes" from the pdf). On my ipad, this settings option is not available and its extremely frustrating because I would like to read/annotate on my ipad as the highlight functionality there is superior to desktop.

Also, I have a university/enterprise account and couldnt login to vote/submit the comment because the SSO option is not enabled for this page.

  6. Comment workflow will often be one user making a pass over the document, followed by another user, and so on. Currently every @mentioned user is sent an e-mail the moment you mention them, which floods everyone's inboxes and leads to users editing a document before it's ready. Suggest copying Word's system, where users are invited to comment when the user chooses, rather than the instant they are mentioned.

  8. If I make a box, or a line, or a text comment on a PDF, the next thing I'm likely to want to do is to adjust the shape of or position of the box or line or other thing I've drawn--not make another box! Who makes a box then when they click they make another box, then another, and have to waste time deleting 3 boxes when all they want to do is format the first one they drew. PLEASE have the cursor default back to "select" mode after the user draws something, rather than continuing to keep creating…

  9. I am using Acrobat Pro (JP).
The total number of comments is no longer displayed in the comments review.
When adding two or more comments (annotations), it shows {total} in the comment count. (Please refer to the attached image)

It may be due to my individual environment, but I posted this because reinstalling Acrobat Pro did not improve it.

As of April 28, 2024, Acrobat Pro is up to date.
    I am using MacOS 12.7.4 / MacBook Pro (14-inch, 2021).

    Thank you.

    MacOS 12.7.4/MacBook Pro(14インチ、2021)で使用しています。

  10. Read aloud for comments section.

I use the generative AI frequently and often times the information is much more succinct and comprehensive than my actual lecture slides.
I usually drop comments with the AI information around the lectures to fill in gaps that are missing.
I love the idea of being able to passively learn via read aloud on long commutes to and from Uni. But most pdfs/ lectures are obviously not meant for that. However, I have found that AI generated information reads perfectly. Would be amazing to have and since it is already available for the pdf itself,…

  11. Recently a bug appeared in PDF-commenting.
Suppose you have "1-2" and want to change it to "1 and 2". The way that used to work was this: select the dash and insert a comment with replace text " and " (with blanks before and after). And it worked - importing and applying it in Indesign resulted "1 and 2", as expected. But now those blanks disappear as soon as posting the comment in Acrobat (and it does the same in Acrobat Reader too), so the end result is "1and2", which is definitely wrong!
And if you have to correct "twowords",…

  12. When I return to a previously inserted comment box to edit. The previously typed texts gets grayed out and the entire comment box then 'disappears' on the page. I have to retype everything again. Sometimes that invisible comment box reappears somewhere else. Sometimes there are hidden boxes from previous comments which has to be deleted. Please Stabilize the comment box, do not override previously entered texts. Allow one to edit previously typed texts without making the text 'disappear'

  13. When typing in a comment box, spelling is checked immediately, which makes so the current word being typed gets marked as an error (i.e. with a red underline). After finishing typing a word, the immediate checking seems to disappear, so a correctly typed word stays marked as incorrect for a lingering time. So it leads to a waste of time by drawing attention to false errors

Error checking should wait until each word is fully typed.

  14. I really loved the rounded edges of highlights. Now they are gone; highlight edges are not rounded anymore! Can you change it back to being rounded? or at least let the users decide on the highlighting edges?

  16. Hello,

I'm working as a proofreader and I have used a lot the commenting feature to mark errors and point potential improvements to typesetter working in InDesign.

Especially useful was the feature of typing leading or trailing spaces in comments (e.g., in Add Text or Replace Text features) such that typesetter in InDesign can automatically apply my remarks to the book.

Recently, however, I've discovered that Adobe removed the possibility of leading/trailing whitespaces - see this page https://helpx.adobe.com/acrobat/using/whats-new.html (and in an attached image).

It is not even possible to disable this "enhancement" somewhere in options. I (and probably a lot…

  17. Submitting a bug at ghostscript's request

    https://bugs.ghostscript.com/show_bug.cgi?id=707678#c3

The pdf in attachment (page5_gs) fails to open in Acrobat DC.

However, upon opening the pdf with Adobe Acrobat, I encountered an error message indicating that the document has an issue, and a significant portion of the page's content is missing. Interestingly, page 5 functions perfectly when I open source_document.pdf with Adobe Acrobat.

It's important to note that this issue only occurs with Adobe software; page5.pdf opens correctly with Chrome-based browsers and Mozilla Firefox.

  18. When adding a comment that contains only a space character, the comment cannot be posted. This means that it is impossible to mark up changes that involve inserting a space, or replacing another character with a space in an 'import PDF comments' (https://helpx.adobe.com/uk/indesign/using/import-pdf-comments.html) workflow in InDesign.

Please allow posting of comments containing only a space character.

  19. I use a windows 10 PC and this app has become nearly unusable. Every single time I am editing a document or commenting, it crashes. If I leave the document open and don't touch it, it crashes. It's now crashing so badly that the textbox wont even let me write a report or send feedback on the crash. This is completely UNNACCEPTABLE given I PAY A MONTHLY SUBSCRIPTION FOR THIS APP.

  20. Running Adobe Acrobat Pro Version 2024.001.20604 on a Mac.

Previously, we could change the commenter name and make the new commenter name a default by editing the comment "Properties > General" and then checking "Make Properties Default", as detailed here: https://community.adobe.com/t5/acrobat-discussions/acrobat-cc-comment-name-change/td-p/9307260

With the most recent update, "Make Properties Default" has no effect. It continually defaults back to each individual's Adobe User Name with every new comment. We can change each of them by hand, but cannot change the default behavior.

We can enable Edit>Preferences to "Always use Log-in name for author name", but that will only use the log-in name…
