1. Image from exporting PDF to JPEG/ PNG is very poor, even choosing the maximum image quality

   We just simply export pdf to both jpeg and png with maximum image quality but the outcome is very low. We found that the file size is very small about 180-280KB so we tried to find the setting to enlarge it but not sure whether it exists. We also have reinstalled the program but it still doesn't work.

2. Converting Hebrew into a Word document

   When exporting a PDF into a Word document it all comes out gibberish, unfortunately and cannot be worked upon. Hopefully this is something which is in the works for the programmers at Adobe.

5. Utilizing Transcript from Video for Use in Exported PDF from Web

   Can you please add a feature for the reader to allow windows that provide video transcripts to be able to pop open and be read from an exported web page to pdf on my iMac please. I am in a eCornell classroom and need my video transcriptions for notes!! Please consider setting the standard for video innovation with this functionality of this nature in a Adobe pdf for the future because Adobe is the best!!!

6. Bug Report

   BUG REPORT - EXPORT TO POWERPOINT - SENSIBLE BUG
   When you export (sometimes) to powerpoint. Adobe produce misspellings, missing letters. For example the word infinite is changed to ininite.
   I can reproduce the bug with some pdfs that I have.

9. Output File Names from Files in an Adobe Folder or Album etc

   I need to compare a long list of file names (~150) to the list from my friend to see what pdf files I am missing.

   I need a way to print the list of the names of the files from a folder and export to EXCEL.

   My workaround for now is to take a screenshot of the File List, then “Import Data From Picture” in EXCEL. Which sometimes is not very accurate.

   It would be much better to have the functionality to print a pdf report of the file names as a separate pdf. Maybe call the function “Table of Contents” The same would apply to any and all aggregations of ADBE files, including photo albums, Light Room folders, In Design projects, etc.

10. PDFMaker mixing up a font's GID and CID, causing garbled output

    I would like to report an issue on Adobe Acrobat DC. I don't own any Adobe Acrobat DC application license (my apology), so I am unable to verify it myself. The issue is reported from a user of an open source typeface I authored, and from my investigation I believe this is related to the Adobe Acrobat application, or specifically, the PDFMaker. So I would like to bring this to your attention.

    The typeface I work with is called Chiron Hei HK (https://github.com/chiron-fonts/chiron-hei-hk). It is derived from Source Han Sans, an open source typeface from your company. The font is built using "Adobe Font Development Kit for OpenType" (AFDKO, https://github.com/adobe-type-tools/afdko/), the same one Source Han Sans was built with.

    Recently, I received an issue report about gibberish PDF characters caused by Adobe Acrobat DC when the user exported an MS Word document typesetted in my typeface to a PDF file (https://github.com/chiron-fonts/chiron-hei-hk/issues/7) on Windows. After some back and forth about the details, the user clarified that the PDF file is fine it is created using the "Print" function with the "Adobe PDF" device selected (i.e. using the Adobe PDF printer), but is problematic when using the "Export to PDF" feature in MS Word, which I believe is provided by Adobe's PDFMaker.

    The actual problem is that some of the characters of the resultant PDF look garbled or weird. From the attached screenshot you can see that the text
    "測試Testing " (note that there is a space at the end)
    in MS Word becomes
    "測試疮疹＊＊＊＊磹疓" (＊ denotes a to-fu)
    in the PDF.

    I believe this is related to the CID-keyed nature of the font. Like Source Han Sans, my font is a OpenType/CFF CID-keyed font. But unlike Source Han Sans, the CID of my font is not contiguous. As stated by your former Type Architect, this should not be a problem ("One particular attribute of CIDs is that they need not be contiguous", quote https://ccjktype.fonts.adobe.com/2012/04/cid-vs-gid.html). But if an application assumes so, this can cause a problem.

    Now, here is an excerpt of the Glyph ID and CID dump of my font using AFDKO's tx tool:

    glyph[27262] {40046,3,0}  # LGC Letter "T" (U+0054)
    glyph[28708] {41492,3,0}  # LGC Letter "g" (U+0067)
    

    Comparing the above data with the text "測試Testing " with the one on PDF "測試疮疹****磹疓", I discovered the following:

    The letter "T" is correctly shown in MS Word. In PDF it becomes a "疮". From the above lookup table, the CID of "疮" is 27262, which is different from that of "T" which is 40046, but is exactly the same as the GID of the letter "T".

    Similarly, "g" is of GID 28708, but the PDF file embeds a glyph with CID 28708, so it becomes "磹". " " (the space) is of GID 27219, but the application embeds CID 27219 (疓) to the PDF file.

    So, from the the above observation, I think it is pretty safe to assume that there is a problem with Adobe Acrobat DC, or probably the PDFMaker application, which involves confusing the GID and CID of a font. I would appreciate if you could look into this.

    Finally, while I am unable to verify the issue with Adobe Acrobat DC, I have verified that this issue doesn't occur in other non-Adobe exporting tools, including the "save as PDF" function in Chrome and Firefox, the "export to PDF" function in Libre Writer, and the "print to PDF" function is certain freeware PDF utility, like PrimoPDF.

11. Selected export not available on browser

    On the browser, one cant select and export part of pdf. Whole pdf is required to be exported. This is just such a wasted effort. First you export whole file and then search for selected text. Can easily be avoided by enabling selected export.

13. Missing kana when combining HTML files to PDF (encoding and/or font error?)

    Summary: Combining Japanese HTML documents. Many (not all) are missing hiragana and katakana when combined. Appear to be displayed as Chinese.

    Sample files attached:
    1317553.htm -- displayed properly
    1317556.htm -- not displayed properly (no kana, Chinese font?)

    Possible issue:
    Despite proper encoding of HTML documents, output is in a Chinese font (which likely has no kana support). This suggests that Acrobat is misreading HTML encoding. In 2022.

14. Auto-refresh adobe pdf file log in open Acrobat DC whenever a pdf file is created in another application.

    Having exported a file to pdf from e.g. Safari and I want to work immediately on the pdf from acrobat dc which I already had open I have to close acrobat dc first and reopen it to be able to see the pdf file just exported in the pdf (creative cloud) file log. I would like to see the just exported file as the most recent file in that log without having to close and reopen

17. Office Save as Adobe PDF Bug: Synthetic Italics on Nonstandard Font Weights

    Installed Microsoft Office version: 2105 (Build 14026.20270)
    Installed Windows Version: Windows 10 Home (21H1)

    When exporting any italic text from Microsoft Office that uses thick (but not Bold) weights, the exported PDF erroneously contains synthetic italics applied to the non-italic font of the same weight. The font files themselves are not the issue--this problem occurs on Microsoft and Adobe fonts alike. Using FontForge, I have narrowed down the bug to the OS/2 weight class of the font. The export feature seems to give up on finding the italic forms of particular weights.

    OS/2 weight classes <= 400 and == 700 work correctly. Any other thick weights (500 Medium, 900 Black, etc.) have synthetic italics applied upon export. If I change the weight classes of a Medium/Medium Italic pair from "500 Medium" to "400 Regular", for example, the italic counterpart is found and exports correctly.

    - PowerPoint1.png: all weights of Roboto display correctly in PowerPoint
    - Exported1.png and Exported1.pdf: with the original versions of the fonts, Medium and Black italics are synthetic
    - FontForge1.png: the original OS/2 weight classes of Roboto Medium and Roboto Medium Italic are logically set to "500 Medium"
    - FontForge2.png: I have changed the OS/2 weight classes of Roboto Medium and Roboto Medium Italic to "400 Regular"
    - Exported2.png and Exported2.pdf: after updating the troublesome weights to have the incorrect weight class of "400 Regular", exporting each weight works perfectly

    Could you please fix the export so that it finds italics for all weight classes?
