  1. When running the form field autodetection there are e.g. multiline text form fields detected. The names of those fields and the alternate field names have a length of up-to 2249 characters (consisting of nearly the whole page text).
I know that theoretically text strings can be 32K or greater however a meaningful name should be much shorter. So would it be possible to limit the size to a meaningful length of lets say 255? In case no string can be detected the name is "undefined_28" which is good and short...
    Thanks

  2. Mohave 10.14.3 and Acrobat DC fillable document saving problem-
If I get a fillable form from IRS or other government site that needs to be filled in, I can save it to my computer one time. But if I reopen the document to add other information to a fillable area, I cannot save the document a second time. I get an error message saying the file contains "a number that is out of range". This happens for documents from many different websites, so I think the error comes when the document is saved using Mohave. Once saved the "producer" under…

Thank you for reporting the issue.

Please check that the form is not being opened in Apple Preview, it happens to get corrupted. Try downloading again from IRS website and instead use Adobe Acrobat/Adobe Reader.

    1. Please share the test file with us using https://forums.adobe.com/docs/DOC-7161 and
2 the version of Acrobat installed on your machine for us to investigate furthur.

  4. Allow the setting of maximum font size for a field when creating a fillable form. This will prevent huge text in a field if there is a small amount of text but would still allow text to reduce in size automatically to fit within the field if needed.

  5. When writing in the fill in portion of the form, I used to be able to right click and underline, bold, italicize, highlight, superscript or subscript my text. I am no longer able to do this and I am super frustrated.

Please go back to Prepare Forms> edit mode and enable “Allow Rich Text Formating” for the text field

Once done, you should be able to get the formatting options under right click context menu.

    I hope this helps.

Basically, a drop-down field can’t have a completely blank value (unless you set the values using a custom script).

You can add a value that’s a single space, though, or an underscore, or something like “SELECT ITEM” and set it as the default value.

  7. Edit Menu > Form Options: does not always show when opening a Form PDF. In Acrobat Standard DC it is hit or miss as to if the Edit Menu show the Form Options selection.

What makes the 'dynamic menu' feature sense a pdf form?

Edit > “Form Options” > is visible (default) in following two cases -

    1. A reader extended PDF is opened in Acrobat.
    2. A distributed PDF.

The menu option is also, available in same session for a non-Reader Extended PDF (or non-distributed) if they are opened with a Reader Extended PDF (and/or Distributed PDF).
That ways the “Edit > Form Option” stays visible until user exit Acrobat application.

Please note, Edit > “Form Options” > does not appear when we are creating form from scratch because as an author he/she has the advantage of using Prepare Form Tools.

  8. I would like to have a Text Field Property that would allow presetting of line spacing on multi line text fields. Currently, it appears that it can only be adjusted after there is already text in the field that would be submitted by the form filler.

  9. During the process of preparing a fillable form from a template, there are certain style attributes that have to be changed to meet my personal style preferences (e.g. font, check-box/radio-box options, form field attributes, and so on).

Performing these changes on simple forms is not a difficult task but, when dealing with an extensive (e.g. multi-page, multi-field type form) template, this process can be pain-stakeingly tedious and result in lack of continuity.

A feature which would allow the user to change the defaults in the Prepare Form feature so that the fillable form would be created with the user specified…

  11. A Java Script Checkbox that makes a field visible or hidden based on the condition is not functioning properly. When first opening the form, the box does nothing. If I click on "Prepare Form" tool and immediately close, the button works as it should. If Adobe is closed and the form is reopened, the checkbox stops working again.

  13. Form created in Designer 11, Using Acrobat XI Pro to extend file for users to fill-in forms using Reader DC or Std DC to save to server. After recent Reader update fields on forms that have a calculation have issues. When the file is closed then re-opened using ReaderDC the calculation fields are blank or zero. Win7 and Win10 PCs.

  15. There has been two major releases since Acrobat 10, yet there has been no update to the JavaScript engine to support newer version of JavaScript since version 1.8 that came with version 10 of Acrobat, as stated on the latest Acrobat DC JS API reference. Please update the decade-old-JavaScript 1.8 to the latest ECMAScript 2019 in next major release of Acrobat. Thank you for your consideration.

  17. Sometimes I already have an underlying form in use (one that has check boxes) that I want to make fillable. Since the form already has check boxes, when I add a check box using Prepare Form, the borders can look chunky if I don't get the edges perfectly aligned. Making the fill and line transparent will still fill my underlying check box (part of the form design) but won't try to add a new box overlay.

Thank you for reporting the issue with us.
Could you please share a screenshot of the issue you are observing.
And if you can share the sample PDF for us to debug further.

  18. Add a Delete / Clear "button" .
Sometimes, after the details have been filled out, we want to print it or just save, but we want to leave the form open for the next customer.
Please add a visible "button" option, which will have the option to choose whether to delete the data filled out in the last box or in the entire form, so that the form is ready to be refilled.

If you are the author of the PDF form, you can add the button with “Reset Form” using the folllowing steps

    1. Prepare Form > Add a button.
    2. Open Properties and goto Action tab
    3. Select Action – Reset a form and choose the fields you would want to reset.
    4. Close and save to have the changes applied.

Alternatively, You can also add a reset form button with javascript:
this.resetForm(); However, this will not allow you to choose the fields.

    I hope this helps.

  19. The ability to group multiple checkboxes under one name, each with different export values, and retain the ability to select more than one option.

We import/export information from PDF's and our CRM, and there's no way to import checkbox fields because we can't group them.
