  1. I created a 2 page PDF using an HP Scanner. I saved the file as a PDF. If I open the PDF in Chrome or Edge, I can scroll to see both pages. But, if I open the PDF in Acrobat DC, only the first page shows and the page count shows 1 of 1. Any suggestions as to why?

  2. I have a lot of documents to scan, save, and upload and I wish that Acrobat DC would put a little confirmation box so I can remember if I have performed the OCR already, because for some reason it is easy to forget and there seems to be no way to confirm the OCR has been performed and no way to set Acrobat to provide such confirmation.

  3. I used to deskew in Adobe Acrobat Pro whenever I OCR'ed a document. And the deskewing worked so well: every page would be rotated a tiny amount and usually the improvement was noticeable.

In Adobe Acrobat DC (on macOS 10.15.7), the "Recognize Text" function no longer performs deskewing. So I OCR and deskew using the "Enhance" function under Scan & OCR:

Scan & OCR > Enhance > Scanned Document > Deskew

However it doesn't seem to work. Although the Deskew feature is turned on in Filters under Settings, when I run Enhance, it doesn't actually deskew. (And worse, unless I…

  4. When scanning multiple pages, there should be another confirmation dialog after selecting 'Scan more pages (sheet n)' because it is unclear that the next page should be ready for scan before clicking the 'OK' button.

  5. I am in the UK where the standard page size is A4 - longer than the US standard of 8.5x11 inches. Scanning has no way of explicitly setting the page size and it obviously defaults to 8.5x11 inches because the last portion of a document is cut off. This only happens in the Adobe App, so it isn't the scanner. There should be a way to set the page size so longer pages aren't cut off when scanned.

  6. In Acrobat Pro DC, I'd like a way to equalize the width of space characters. OCR results often give uneven spacing that needs cleaning up. I can reset the horizontal scaling and the character spacing using the "T" and "AV" options, but the width of space characters are not affected by that. The only workaround I've found for this is to copy the results to another application, and then back to Acrobat again, which seems inefficient.

  7. The OCR in Acrobat Pro DC on Mac sometimes generates buggy characters. They become filled-in with black depending on how the file is viewed. The attached file contains 6 isolated examples of these problem OCR characters. They look as expected when first viewed in Acrobat Pro DC, however if you zoom in by 600% or more, they suddenly become filled-in with black. The same problem occurs when printing the file, or viewing it in a web browser even without zooming in. This bug can be especially frustrating because you often don't see the problem until after you print the file.

  11. During a recent update the ability to scan the backside of documents is gone. There used to be 3 options after a scan was complete; Scan Compete, Scan More, Scan Reverse. Scan reverse would allow you to run the back pages though and the program would auto-sort those pages in reverse order. Now you don't have that option and it only allows to Scan More and then you have to manually move the pages where you need them.

  14. As of today, it is not possible to run OCR for wider images. Please re-consider this limitation.

This is also a topic in the support community.

  15. In order to run OCR for wider images, some users suggested a workaround to crop the image, run OCR for the first half, then restore the image to the original size, crop again the second half, then run OCR again and finally restore the image to its orignal size.

There are two bugs with this approach:
    1) It is only possible to restore the image to its original size when using the option "Searchable Image (Exact)".
    2) After re-running the OCR for the second half of the file, the OCR for the first half is dumped.

    This is also a…

  18. Adobe does not convert OCR characters when converting a PDF to a Word document. This is an important feature to many people. Other PDF software offers this. Adobe needs to realize the importance of this feature that has been offered for over a decade by other software companies.

As Abbyy states "Optical Character Recognition, or OCR, is a technology that enables you to convert different types of documents, such as scanned paper documents, PDF files or images captured by a digital camera into editable and searchable data."

If Abbyy can do it, why can't Adobe? I will have to use…

  19. Idea: make it work as documented. So far all my attempts to download ALL my adobe scan scans to my computer fail. Variously too many files to zip (I do NOT want them zipped I want them downloaded as is) and when zipped to a binder .zip file then the download simply fails.
I have a report due and this is screwing me up completely. I had hoped I could rely on these programs, but it is letting me down big time. Two hours so far and a simple download of scans fails at every turn. Am I epxected to…

  20. It would be great if there was an automated tool for working with scans of books showing two pages across. If the system could automatically cut scans in half (or even detect where the centerline of the scan is) and create two pages out of each image it would be an awesome addition to Acrobat.
