  1. Scope and associated header cells in tables should show when you hover over a cell

It would be amazing if you didn't have to go all the way inside Cell Properties to check and see what a header cell's scope is set as, and what header cells are associated with any given cell in a table. If, once you were already inside Table Editor, that information would be available when you hover over any given cell (could be a feature that can be turned on or off), it would save so much time and effort in a very tedious job.

When a table is really large or complicated, it can be easy to lose your…

    Hi,
Thank you for connecting with us. I have shared your concern with the higher management. I’ll update you on the request one I receive a response.

Meanwhile, check out the new features on latest version of Acrobat Pro DC.

    Thanks

  2. Adobe Acrobat Portfolio and Attachment Features Need Keyboard Accessibility Enabled to read documents and access the Open Document Link

Within Adobe Acrobat there are options to Create a Portfolio of documents or to use the Attachment feature to create a group of documents. While keyboard shortcuts allow you to browse some of the menus, get to the document list, and select a document from the list. However, there is not a keyboard short cut to read the document in the view or to access the Open Document link. It seems to be only available through mouse selection.

This places users of these features at risk because the end user can't access the document to read it using only keyboard…

  3. Fix the FIX tool for Artifacting

When you have elements with no alt-text you get accessibility errors when running the checker. However, if you right click on the error and choose "fix" and walk through the items and mark them as decorative, instead of actually making them an artifact it simply changes the tag to "Artifact" which is not a valid tag and creates other errors. You then have to go in and properly designate the objects as Artifacts properly for the other errors to go away. VERY Frustrating. Come on Adobe Acrobat!

This is a repeatable condition and needs to be fixed immediately please!

    Setting…

    Hi,
Thank you for contacting us. I have raised the issue with the engineering team. We have kept it our radar and will be fixing it in the near future.

Meanwhile I would suggest you to use Reading Order tool to mark the Figure as Artifact for fixing the issue.

Please update to the latest version of Acrobat Pro DC to experience new features.

    Thanks
    Rachit

  4. Enable Accessibility options automatically during save.

We need a way to setup adobe Pro to automatically utilize the accessbility scanner when saving a doc to become more ADA compliant.

Out of the box, this should be a feature we can turn on.

  5. Accessibility Checker to check at WCAG in line with PAC3 App checker

We are continually getting issues with compliance and the Adobe PDF Checker is not being stringent enough. We have created PDFs that are given a clear bill of health using the Adobe checker but our web team use the PAC3 app to verify and they fail on many levels. We would like Adobe to improve the checker to a similar standard so it then complies with legislation for public service bodies in the United Kingdom. Also, as we use Macs most other checkers are PC only so a level playing field would be immensely helpful. Thanks.

  6. Assign shortcut keys to all menus and options

Not only is the DC interface confusing and more time-consuming to use than the old one, but it does not comply with Section 508 of the Americans With Disability Act, which requires that the federal government, in its software procurement process, consider accessibility. Adobe Acrobat does not take into account the needs of users who rely on voice recognition software to accomplish actions that fully abled users accomplish with the mouse. When using voice recognition software, it is quick and easy to dictate a shortcut key or sequence of shortcut keys, but extremely slow, cumbersome and error-prone to get the…

Text to Speech upgrades, enhanced voices, and over better integration, have been requested numerous times... but no real movement from Adobe.

    Hi,
Can you please specify the issues that you are facing currently. Also check out Read Out Loud feature under View → Read Out Loud →Activate. Also you can change related setting in Preferences → Reading → Under Reading Out Loud options. Please change them as per you need and tell us if this resolves your issue.

    Thanks

  8. [Bug] Horizontal/vertical lines sometimes do not change color when text color is changed

Reproduction: Open the "woodruffsvm" file or the "variance_reduction-saddle" file I attached, change text color to white.

Environment: MacOS Big Sur, Adobe Acrobat DC

Expected Result: the horizontal/vertical lines coming from fraction bars, square root signs, and tables should be changed to white as well

Observed Result: these lines remained black

This seems to happen for some pdfs and not others; for example, in the "unified" pdf I attach, the fraction bars and table lines are properly changed.

  9. Set Document Title in Initial View as Default

Current Behaviour - If a PDF document has a title present in the “Title” document property then the default initial view of Acrobat Reader and Acrobat PRO is set to "File Name" rather than the "Document Title".

Impact - Acrobat's Accessibility Checks report the "Title" error while the title is already there. This requires the "Initial View" setting to be changed on each PDF manually.

Desired Behaviour - Set the “Initial View” to “Document Title” as default when a PDF is opened on Acrobat Reader DC and Acrobat DC Pro.

Why the feature is needed - All organisations want to…

  10. Open last viewed files

I am a PhD student and have switched to Adobes pdf viewer because I think it is the best one (google and edge do not offer the same accessibility for mark up etc.) The one thing that I love about google and edge is that you can set them to open the previously viewed document. I read a lot of articles and use the tabs as a sort of reading to-do list. But when I close adobe (or my computer restarts) that list disappears, I have to either remember them or go to the recently opened files to open them…

    Hi,
As I understood the issue faced by you, I would like to inform you that when you close the pdf, you can open them by two ways:
    1. Select multiple pdf from Recent using checkbox and then click Open in the context board on right side.
    2. Go to File→ Reopen pdf from last session.

Please confirm it this will resolve your problem.

    Thanks

  11. Autotag a table or a portion of a page

I am interested in being able to auto-tag a part of a page, such as a table, for example. Can you let me know where Adobe is in term of implementing the partial auto-tag suggestion. Thanks.

  12. Accessibility- Reading order pause

I am just updating my resume to be more accessible to vision impaired. I am having trouble with some items running together in read-aloud.

    In Adobe Acrobat Pro DC

My favoured option would be that we have the option to insert a <pause> object in the reading order.

If this is not possible, can you change Read-Aloud to pause between elements.

    Hi Barry,
Thank you for connecting with us. I believe you need a pause shortcut while using Read Out Loud. Please check View → Read Out Loud → Pause option. Use the shortcut key to pause and resume.

Please check this out and confirm if this resolves your issue.

    Thanks

  13. [Feature request] Copy/Paste of Tag structure

Working with tagging of PDF documents for accessibility purposes, with a lot of them being nearly identical to each other or within a document there are repeated patterns, it takes a long time and a tidious task to create tags individually. It would be a very neat if it were possible to Copy/Paste the (selected) tag strutucture within the Tags-panel (excluding any actual content they may contain)

  14. Hyperlinks Spanning Multiple Lines

Hyperlinks that span more than one line create multiple OBJR tags.
Reproduce: Create file in InDesign with links that span more than one line. Export to PDF/open with Acrobat. Find tag. Link will have two OBJR tags (or more if the link spans more than two lines). This is a bad experience for users of assistive technologies.
Sometimes manually fixing tags (deleting old links and creating new OBJR tag) isn't sufficient and designer has to resort to editing in the content pane or even using the Actual Text override to get the link to be read by assistive technology properly. …

  15. Read-out bug

I want to report a bug in the read-out loud feature of Acrobat Pro DC. I’m using a Mac (Mojave), and I have already set its accessibilty options to my favorite system voice and speaking rate. I thought I’d have a PDF doc read out aloud while I work on some graphics. The default voice was meh-next-to-terrible, so I looked under preferences for an option to change voice. I found it and was happy to find a long list of available voices, including the ones I already have installed on my computer. So I selected my favorite voice and tried…

  16. Replacement Text (AccSupp ActualText entry) Support

We noticed that your PDF viewer doesn't have AccSupp ActualText support. This means that copy-pasting technical text such as shellscripts and programming code, does not work in your PDF viewer and this greatly restrains the use of your whole program.

The replacement text is said to be supported, according to the file "Document management - Portable document format - Part 1: PDF 1.7" both on Table 323, page 559, and on section 14.9.4, page 615. Available here: https://www.adobe.com/content/dam/acom/en/devnet/pdf/PDF32000_2008.pdf.

But according to the tests made using PDFs produced by pdflatex using the package accsupp, the replacement text support seems to…

  17. Acrobat crashes when copying text

Acrobat crashes when copying text -- no error message appears, application just closes. Document is fairly large (~1000 pages), created in Adobe FrameMaker. Acrobat only crashes if document is tagged -- if all tagging is removed, we are able to copy text easily.

  18. Read out loud to end/this page: The ability to start from anywhere (available using right+click from selected area of the document)

Read out loud to end or read this page only: The ability to start from anywhere (make option available using right+click from selected area of the document). It's maddening to have to listen to the document over and over and over and over and over and over and over... when troubleshooting order errors. TIA

  19. Read to end of document issues on a Mac

Read to end of document only reads a single page or sometimes doesn't read at all.

  20. Auto Generate Cell IDs Inserting Spaces

Auto Generate Cell IDs adds a space to the end of IDs which are not long enough, and appears to be including internal spaces. Since cell IDs cannot contain spaces, those headers are not announced by AT when reading the table. (OS: Windows 10 on desktop PC; Acrobat Pro DC 20.012.20043; latest as of 8/30/2020).

The attached file has two identical tables (Word 365, Saved as PDF) with auto-generated header IDs. With the first, NVDA (v 2019.2) only announces the headers for Vegetable, Potassium, and Brocolli. All other headers have spaces at the end, and the IDs for % DV…
