Acrobat Reader for Mac does not expose an Accessibility Tree to VoiceOver
Acrobat for Windows reads tagged PDF (aka PDF/UA) files and exposes an accessibility tree to assistive tech such as NVDA, Narrator, JAWS etc.
Acrobat for Mac does not do this. (And neither does Preview, or Safari). This means that the 'portable' document format is not accessible to Mac screen reader users at all. You can get the text nodes, but none of the semantic tags are respected.
Why is there such a discrepancy between accessibility support on the Mac vs. Windows versions of Acrobat Reader?
That's not what 'portable' means! Please address this as soon as possible.5 votesHi,
I would like to inform you that we have identified the issue but we do not have plans to fix it. We have kept it in our radar and will be fixing this in future release. Thanks

Bug: Accessibility tool making text disappear
The "Make Accessible" tool is making text disappear in the document. Working in Adobe Acrobat Pro DC, 2015.006.30505. I opened the document, clicked on Tools, then Action Wizard, then Make Assessible. First fopur steps worked fine, but after runnuing the Document Pass and the Alt Text detection, text went missing in numerous places in the document. This is the fourth time this has happened. Look at the header on the first page.

Activate/Deactivate Menu option
I think it could be nice to click on the same button to deactivate the previously selected option. For instance, I selected the Highlighter to highlight some words. I though it was the same button to quit this state, as the same interactivity gate. Instead of that, I needed to go on the Arrow symbol to deselect the Highlighter.

make it easier to add alt-text to all parts of a pdf
The process for adding alt text is rather onerous, especially for pdfs created from jpegs or other image files. It requires typing in all of the text and doesn't provide for an easy way to separate out sections of a pdf, as in a poster with a varied layout, such as a biographical poster with a photo, titles, subtitles, etc.

Menu is too bright - makes hard to access menu items
Thank you for your reply to my previous post to this topic a few hours ago:
"Hi
Can you please be more specific about which menu are you facing the issue with?"Maybe its better not to remove the post before letting me answer.
The issue covers all drop-down-menus (top menu bar) and Sub-menus and also sidebars just as 'Page editing' including tools.
By now now we have around 120 licences and almost every user has reported problems navigating through the program due to low contrast between text and Background.
We hope this Problem will be fixed by an update…

Bug: Autotag distorts page and reorders images
Start with a PDF with scanned image(s) and some transparent text, then do Autotag. The Autoag seems to change the Z order of the images and the page now looks distorted.

It would be wonderful to have the tools accessible as dropdowns from the Adobe Acrobat DC. Specifically, the file manager accessibility.
It would be wonderful to have the tools accessible as dropdowns from the Adobe Acrobat DC. Specifically, the file manager for Adobe Sign accessibility. I should be able to get to an overview status of all my sharing and sending/receiving. Now it is confusing since I have two Adobe Acrobats and one is for signature documents, the other is for other pdf documents.

Tools Pane Opens on Launch
I run a lot of scripts on Acrobat and it would be nice to have the tools tab be the one that opens on launch. Currently, I need to do 4 clicks every time I want to run an action script Tools > Action > Choose My Action > Select Files.
Even a shortcut to specific tools would be amazing! You can do this on all other Adobe programs (assign shortcuts) but you cannot do this on Acrobat and it makes my workflow on this program so much slower.
I saw a lot of requests to remove the tools pane,…

Read out loud selected word(s)
I suggest a feature that would read out loud individual word(s) as selected by the user and also be able to read out loud the alt tag on images if the image is clicked. Thank you!

Why is there a Reading Order pane and a Tags pane? Is there any circumstance that would require them not to match?
Why is there a Reading Order pane and a Tags pane? Is there any circumstance that would require them not to match? Do any screen readers even use the Reader Order anymore?

When importing pages from other PDF's, any language identifiers associated with the individual accessibility tags are not imported. This has been a long-standing issues across all Acrobat versions

Provide option to customize keyboard shortcuts
would be nice to have the option of remapping existing shortcuts for moving around, adding bookmarks, etc..

Change color of the cursor
I am in output preview looking at the cyma color composition on my document and because the background of the document is 50% k I'm having problems seeing the cursor. Being able to change the cursor color to something like magenta or cyan would help me immensely identify where the cursor is

margins to restrict read-out-loud feature
I have a lot of deposition transcripts that I would like to simply listen to while I'm doing other tasks. The transcripts have each line numbered as well as time-stamped. Using read-out-loud feature includes all these numbers which makes listening unnecessarily lengthy and broken. I'd like to be able to define margins that the read-out-loud feature stays within, thereby eliminating the time stamps and line numbers.

[Bug] Horizontal/vertical lines sometimes do not change color when text color is changed
Reproduction: Open the "woodruffsvm" file or the "variance_reduction-saddle" file I attached, change text color to white.
Environment: MacOS Big Sur, Adobe Acrobat DC
Expected Result: the horizontal/vertical lines coming from fraction bars, square root signs, and tables should be changed to white as well
Observed Result: these lines remained black
This seems to happen for some pdfs and not others; for example, in the "unified" pdf I attach, the fraction bars and table lines are properly changed.

Accessibility Check Alt Text suggestion
When I use Accessibility Check, the document is scanned for shapes that need Alt Text. The algorithm is too sensitive. It picks up small things like bullets, hole punches, lines from shadows and a lot of stuff that winds up being marked as "decorative" that really don't need any alt text. It would be great of the algorithm were tweaked just a bit so that it figures out the area of each shape and if the area doesn't meet a minimum threshold, the algorithm doesn't flag it as needing alt-text. Perhaps a setting would let the user set the threshold,…
1 voteHi,
The suggestion provided by you has been shared to the higher management. Unfortunately, no threshold can be set for the images we are checking the pdfs as per the standards. We have set them as decorative or provide an Alt text to define them.Feel free to contact us in case of any issue.
Thanks
