Make Accessible PDF's accessible.
The process to make a PDF accessible is overly complicated and buggy. Usually while doing this, something will go wrong and the only way to fix it is to close the document, open it again, do the same process and hope it works. This process should be as simplistic as possible so everything can be accessible.

Bug - PDF Tag Panel does not match Reading Order Tool by marking all Tags as Span
This issue of InDesign and Acrobat incompatibility in regards to Acrobat displaying all spans even when the Reading Order is correct has been around for over two years. We deserve to know what Adobe is doing about it.
Acrobat Team acknowledges the problem and blames InDesign:
"It's actually not an Acrobat issue, it's an issue with InDesign and how it's generating the Content that Acrobat is displaying correctly"

Accessibility Requests!!!
Feature Requests / Bug Reports for the Accessibility features in Adobe Acrobat Pro DC.
Adobe Acrobat Pro DC (Version 2018.011.20063) on Windows 7 Professional.
For the Tags panel:
1. Option to create Lists <L> tags with a set number of List Items <LI> tags instead of one at a time. Time wasted creating one at time.
2. Option to created tables <Tables> tags with a set number of Rows <TR> tags instead of one at a time. Time wasted creating one at time.
3. Stop forcing all the Tags folders to all be opened when opening a PDF file! Not…20 votesHi,

Scope and associated header cells in tables should show when you hover over a cell
It would be amazing if you didn't have to go all the way inside Cell Properties to check and see what a header cell's scope is set as, and what header cells are associated with any given cell in a table. If, once you were already inside Table Editor, that information would be available when you hover over any given cell (could be a feature that can be turned on or off), it would save so much time and effort in a very tedious job.
When a table is really large or complicated, it can be easy to lose your…

Accessibility Checker to check at WCAG in line with PAC3 App checker
We are continually getting issues with compliance and the Adobe PDF Checker is not being stringent enough. We have created PDFs that are given a clear bill of health using the Adobe checker but our web team use the PAC3 app to verify and they fail on many levels. We would like Adobe to improve the checker to a similar standard so it then complies with legislation for public service bodies in the United Kingdom. Also, as we use Macs most other checkers are PC only so a level playing field would be immensely helpful. Thanks.
11 votesHi,
Thanks for contacting us. Can you please provide some sample files with the PAC3 checker results so that we can check the difference and proceed accordingly. Thanks

Losing german äüö (Umlauts) and letters in the Structure Tree when using "Add Tags to Document" in Adobe Acrobat DC
- Brief Title
Losing german äüö (Umlauts) and letters in the Structure Tree when using "Add Tags to Document" in Adobe Acrobat DC (previous operation Number ADB-3207012-T1M7) German Language Problem?
- Steps to reproduce the issue
Export a text document with german words that contain german umlauts (äöü), e.G.: "für, können, öfter, mögen" as a PDF without tags from InDesign or Word
Open the file in Acrobat DC
Go to "Tags" and open the little menu and choose "Add Tags to Document"
After the Structure Tree was created — save and close
when you open the document again in Acrobat DC and…11 votes -
Fix the FIX tool for Artifacting
When you have elements with no alt-text you get accessibility errors when running the checker. However, if you right click on the error and choose "fix" and walk through the items and mark them as decorative, instead of actually making them an artifact it simply changes the tag to "Artifact" which is not a valid tag and creates other errors. You then have to go in and properly designate the objects as Artifacts properly for the other errors to go away. VERY Frustrating. Come on Adobe Acrobat!
This is a repeatable condition and needs to be fixed immediately please!
Setting…

Hyperlinks Spanning Multiple Lines
Hyperlinks that span more than one line create multiple OBJR tags.
Reproduce: Create file in InDesign with links that span more than one line. Export to PDF/open with Acrobat. Find tag. Link will have two OBJR tags (or more if the link spans more than two lines). This is a bad experience for users of assistive technologies.
Sometimes manually fixing tags (deleting old links and creating new OBJR tag) isn't sufficient and designer has to resort to editing in the content pane or even using the Actual Text override to get the link to be read by assistive technology properly.…10 votesHi,
As we checked on our side, this issue is related to the tagging functionality in InDesign. Please log the issue with them. Thanks

Read allowed removed from options
I am disappointed that your company has decided to remove the read allowed option. As a dyslexic masters graduate who is now studying for a degree in a different subject you are actively discriminating against people with protected disabilities. I am very angry and upset by you discrimination and prejudice because you have a monopoly in the market place. You are using peoples disabilities to make money so they have to buy an advanced product. I hope that the media runs a story about this and your disregard for legislation concerning disabilities. I feel upset and angry at your biased…

Invert colours on images embedded in pdf files.
Invert colours on images embedded in pdf files.
Hi
I'm visually impaired. I find anything with a white background unreadable.
I can change text and text background colours to make text readable but I cannot find a method to change colours used in images embedded in pdf files.
Please can you add an accessibility option to invert colours in embedded images so black becomes white and white becomes black. NB. All colours will need to be inverted not just black and white.

Acessibility checker manual pass reverts to needs manual check when pdf is reopened
When you manually check something like navigation links and click pass manually in the accessibility checker, it reverts back to needs manual check when you reopen the saved pdf. What is the point of allowing a manual check if you can't make it stick in the checker report?

Please share a pdf file so that we can check the issue and resolve it for you. Thanks

Integration with Dragon Naturally Speaking
I would welcome efforts by Adobe, including coordination with Nuance, to fully integrate Dragon Naturally Speaking into Adobe Acrobat DC. In trying to fill out editable forms in DC, it does not take my dictation directly into the space provided in the form. It requires me to use the Dragon Dictation Box, which is slow and cumbersome. This improvement would be greatly appreciated by disabled people such as me who have to rely on voice recognition to use their computers fully. I was able to dictate directly into this Comment Box. Thank you for considering my Feature Request.

Assign shortcut keys to all menus and options
Not only is the DC interface confusing and more time-consuming to use than the old one, but it does not comply with Section 508 of the Americans With Disability Act, which requires that the federal government, in its software procurement process, consider accessibility. Adobe Acrobat does not take into account the needs of users who rely on voice recognition software to accomplish actions that fully abled users accomplish with the mouse. When using voice recognition software, it is quick and easy to dictate a shortcut key or sequence of shortcut keys, but extremely slow, cumbersome and error-prone to get the…

Keyboard shortcuts to reorder items in the tags panel (Accessibility Tool)
Please add keyboard shortcuts to reorder items in the tag panel.
Currently, a user must drag and drop tags in the Tags panel to change the reading order. It is easy to drag and drop items in the wrong place.
To recreate this problem:
1.) Open a tagged PDF
2.) Open Accessibility Tools
3.) Open Tags Panel
4.) Attempt to re-order itemsIt would be extremely useful to be able to do the following
With a tag selected, I want the ability to do the following with the keyboard:-Move the tag up
-Move the tag down
-Move the tag…5 votes -
Adobe Acrobat Portfolio and Attachment Features Need Keyboard Accessibility Enabled to read documents and access the Open Document Link
Within Adobe Acrobat there are options to Create a Portfolio of documents or to use the Attachment feature to create a group of documents. While keyboard shortcuts allow you to browse some of the menus, get to the document list, and select a document from the list. However, there is not a keyboard short cut to read the document in the view or to access the Open Document link. It seems to be only available through mouse selection.
This places users of these features at risk because the end user can't access the document to read it using only keyboard…
5 votesHi,
As I can see, the issue is related to keyboard keys, Please follow the below controls to access the Open Document link.
Use tab to click on Attachment in Left Hand Pane. Press tab multiple times to bring the focus on the Option menu. Click Enter and Use arrow keys to navigate inside Options menu items. This resolves your access to Open Document Link.Secondly, Use Ctrl+Shift+Y and then Ctrl+Shift+V/B to read the document using Read out loud feature. You can alternatively see it in View Menu → Read Out Loud → Click Activate ROL → Click Read this page/ end of the document.
Please confirm if this resolves your issue.

Set Document Title in Initial View as Default
Current Behaviour - If a PDF document has a title present in the “Title” document property then the default initial view of Acrobat Reader and Acrobat PRO is set to "File Name" rather than the "Document Title".
Impact - Acrobat's Accessibility Checks report the "Title" error while the title is already there. This requires the "Initial View" setting to be changed on each PDF manually.
Desired Behaviour - Set the “Initial View” to “Document Title” as default when a PDF is opened on Acrobat Reader DC and Acrobat DC Pro.
Why the feature is needed - All organisations want to…

Improved MacOS "spoken content" functionality in Acrobat for Mac
The text reader in MacOS is not a typical screen reader, but it does provide easy, fast access to spoken content from on-screen text. Unfortunately, it does not work with Adobe Acrobat. Ideally, it would speak selected text with a keyboard shortcut, but only reads the document name in Adobe Acrobat. The Acrobat screen reader is difficult to use, does not read selected text, and often fails due to pdf accessibility issues.
4 votesHi,
I understand the issue faced by you. Read Out Loud is not a screen reader provided by Acrobat but a feature to read the pdf.
You can user VoiceOver on MacOS which is a Screen Reader supported by Apple. You can easily find the shortcuts at https://www.apple.com/voiceover/info/guide/_1131.htmlI hope this would help you in resolving the issue.
Thanks

Very Poor in one click Look up and dictionary with using "Ctrl+right click"
To read something and to understand the meaning of any pharse or word in better ways, there is no better options given to quick click and lookup or using some other software and their shortcuts, like having a dictionary installed and the shortcut "Ctrl+right click" can not be used here.
