1. Search doesn't work in large documents

   I'm working on a book and constantly use very large documents (300-600 pages) that I need to search through for specific terms. Trying to search for something as simple as a single word doesn't work 95% of the time. The app either (1) freezes and never returns results or (2) presents hundreds or even thousands of results for the first letter(s) of the term I entered in the search box. Ironically, I've uploaded those same huge PDFs to my iPhone and Adobe Acrobat Reader works perfectly, easily finding those exact same words in those exact same huge documents within second. So I know it's not about the length/size of the document -- it's something Reader isn't doing right on my MacBook Pro. I'm attaching a screenshot of me searching for the term "senna" and Reader showing as results 496 words that start with "se". I'm also attaching a screenshot from my iPhone with the instant and correct search results on the same PDF - the term "senna" only exists 4 times in the document. This happens to me every day with dozens of large PDFs. Please help! It's very frustrating. I often have to force close Reader because it can't handle my search. And it only happens in large docs. 3. No notifications from shared PDF recipient

   I share PDFs to clients and they correctly receive the email and click the button link which displays the shared PDF.
   I'm sure that in the past I've received email notifications whenever they have viewed the file. (The status of the PDF then updates in Adobe Acrobat Pro DC desktop app to say 'VIEWED' or 'OPENED'.)
   Recently I've had no notifications and no updates and yet the client HAS received and viewed the PDF. Through much testing, I've worked out that the notifications/updates only trigger if the client is signed in to Adobe (with an Adobe ID) which I find limiting.
   I like the assurance that a PDF HAS been VIEWED (and therefore RECEIVED) as part of my workflow and suggest that the act of clicking the link button in the recipient's email SHOULD trigger a VIEWED notification regardless of whether the person is signed in to Adobe or not. Afterall, the email that I am entering to share the PDF is the same as the one receiving the email. Clicking the link implies that they are giving permission to view the PDF from me.
   WeTransfer triggers a download notification using the same kind of emailed link.

4. Adobe Reader Print bug - long delays

   Adobe Reader suffering from delays when printing PDF files, switched reader to Edge or Foxit same files print without any issue. Repair install performed along w/ complete removal + reinstall of Reader but issues continued. End users reported problem did not appear until recently, possibly a bug with the latest build.

5. end of file reached unexpectedly error on macOS Big Sur 11.4

   It seems that after updating to Big Sur, I cannot save files locally on my desktop from a remote server. When I open the file off the server and then go to save as to my desktop, I get an End of File was reached unexpectedly error. I am running Reader version 21.001.20155. This error does not happen on macOS Catalina 10.15.7 so I am not sure if this is something Adobe or Apple has to fix. I will be filing a separate ticket with Apple on this matter. Thank you

6. Very slow after window is resized or moving between monitors

   Adobe Reader is very slow after I resize the window on my Windows 10 laptop. This includes maximizing and restoring down a window. If I only open one document, it usually takes 1-3 seconds to respond, depending on how complicated the document is. This is already significantly slower than Firefox and Chrome. Furthermore, if I open two documents, resizing takes 3-6 seconds, and longer when more document tabs are opened. This is a big performance issue. Looks like Adobe Reader is rendering all the documents synchronously after the window is resized, which is completely unnecessary; it should only render the current tab synchronously and render the other tabs in the background.

   The two problems add up and cause significant performance issue when I try to move the window between monitors. The window often get stuck for at least 10 seconds, because it will do the inefficient rendering several times; one time for resizing the window on one monitor, one time for changing the scaling because two monitors have different DPIs, and one final resizing for maximizing the window on the new monitor. This results in an unacceptable "not responding" freeze.

   I do hope Adobe could improve the performance of PDF rendering. The current version is really wasting me so much time waiting for the frozen window.

7. Recently viewed files should not be removed from the list when not accesible

   Concerning the window "Recent opened" or "last viewed", I am not sure of the name since my language version is polish.
   I had a file on the list, that I wanted to view again. Unfortunately it was on a share that was not connected at the moment.
   Acrobat Reader could not open it, and it removed it from the list. I connected the share, but I lost the possibility to open the file since it was not on the list anymore. I had to find it again, what was really time consuming.
   The file should be kept on the list until user deletes it.

8. Adobe Reader DC Portuguese Version Not Responding.

   Windows 10 20H2 updated.
   Adobe Reader Product Version - 21.1.20115.433178
   Adobe Reader File Version - 21.1.20155.39962

   When opening the program immediately it stops work and returns a "Not Responding" message. It occurs after opening the program being impossible to click in any tab or enter in the configuration menu or help tab.

9. Bugfix

   I'm using Adobe Acrobat Reader DC Version 2021.001.20150. I think you introduced a bug in the latest version, because I can no longer find a way to print double-sided. I'm using an HP Envy 4500 printer, which certainly does support double-sided printing, and I've used Acrobat Reader for years, but lately I can no longer print double-sided. When I press Properties in the print dialog box, that choice no longer appears.

10. Mouse/cursor changes in reader window to a specific Reader mouse/cursor

    ... and I am not referring to the distinction between hand and select tool. I am referring to another problem:

    I have set my own cursor scheme for Windows (Lefty Scheme) in Windows system settings. Every application accepts that but Adobe Reader. Whenever using the reader the mouse changes from a white arrow pointing to the upper right corner (lefty scheme) to a black arrow pointing to the upper left corner.

    How can I change this? I want the Reader to use the Windows System setting.

    When adding a correction which involves a superscript number or letter, when I "post" the correction the superscript is changed to a subscript.

12. Opening a PDF in a Windows virtual desktop should open an instance of Acrobat in the current virtual desktop

    With the introduction of virtual desktops in Windows 10, some users such as myself have multiple projects going on simultaneously. The virtual desktop feature greatly aids compartmentalization in this aspect.

    Let us say I am working in a virtual desktop called vd3 for instance, and I do not currently have an instance of Acrobat running on vd3. Now I open a PDF file and there is already an instance of Acrobat running on a different virtual desktop, say vd1. Now, instead of opening a new instance of Acrobat in vd3, Windows forces a switch to vd1 and opens my PDF in a new tab in the instance of Acrobat on vd1 instead of in a new instance on vd3. This impacts productivity.

    If there is already an instance of Acrobat open in the current virtual desktop, then this works as expected: a new tab is opened in the instance of Acrobat in the current virtual desktop. However, one must first manually remove a tab from an existing instance and then move that new instance to a new virtual desktop and this can become a nuisance.

    It would be a good quality of life upgrade if a new instance of Acrobat was automatically started in the current virtual desktop if there is not an instance of Acrobat already running.

13. Very specific issue with Adobe Reader on a Mac

    I am a professor of Ancient Greek, and use many documents that use polytonic Greek fonts. For some reason, when I copy-paste from PDFs opened in Adobe Reader on a Mac (no problems on a PC!), one particular character doesn't get copies (ἀ). Many similar characters are just fine (e.g. ἁ, ᾶ, ά, ἂ etc). When I open the same files with other programs/browsers on the Mac, there are no issues. I know this is hyperspecific, but I wanted to bring it to your attention.

14. Doesn't copy accented greek letter

    Reader highlights, but doesn't copy the accented Greek alpha with smooth breathing in text:

    pdftotext reads it just fine, as does MacOS PDF reading system.

16. Bug: Certain PDFs not readable

    We have multiple users with this intermittent issue. Some times the PDF font will show up properly, sometimes it is gibberish and unreadable. It is inconsistent and I cannot seem to resolve the issue.

17. It does not convert ACSM files to PDF

    I just purchased the Adobe Acrobat PDF Pack...the UPGRADED one...fotr $ $18 per year. And it does not convert ACSM files to PDF. That is not good and not functional. Please fix it and please let me know when it is done. Thank you.

18. Adobe Reader DC should open Windows Protocol Handler links regardless of the default browser

    Hello. We have a situation where a Windows protocol handler product is used to open documents from an EDRMS. At some point Adobe has apparently changed how it opens links. Now it simply passes a link to the system's default browser on the command line. As as some browsers (notably Chrome and recent builds of Edge which are based on Chromium) don't handle protocol handler URLs from the command line, this style of link now fails to activate.

    Links will be of a form similar to example://12345/open but I think this is an issue for all Windows protocol handlers.

    ENVIRONMENT:

    Windows 10,
    Adobe Acrobat Reader DC 2021.001.20145, and
    Chrome 89.0.4389.90 (64 bit) as the system's default browser.

    STEPS TO REPRODUCE:

    (1) Create and register a Windows Protocol Handler. (Example instructions: https://medium.com/swlh/custom-protocol-handling-how-to-8ac41ff651eb )

    (2) Make sure Chrome is the system's default browser.

    (3) Create a PDF which includes a hyperlink to open a URL of the registered protocol's form.

    (4) Confirm that the protocol handler activates and does its thing when pasted into the Windows Start/Run dialog. (This is just to confirm that it's registered properly as far as Windows is concerned.)

    (5) Open Adobe Acrobat Reader DC, disable "Enable Protected Mode At Startup" under the Enhanced Security preferences, and restart Adobe Acrobat Reader DC.

    (6) Open the PDF that was created in step 3.

    (7) Click the protocol handler's link, and click through any warnings.

    EXPECTED RESULT:

    • The protocol handler should be run according to the link that was clicked. (In our own case, the designated executable should go to the EDRMS and cause the document to be checked out and opened.)

    OBSERVED RESULT:

    • A blank Chrome browser window opens.
    • Interrogating the process list with Powershell indicates that the new Chrome window was opened with the protocol handler's URL on the command line. For example:

    ADDITIONAL:

    If Firefox or MSIE was set as the default browser, then the browser opens. It typically displays an additional warning, but still allows the protocol handler to be activated. This is consistent with those browsers' behaviour when a non-http link is provided on the command line.

    Ideally, if there's no compelling reason not to, I think Adobe Reader should be telling the OS to handle the protocol handler links instead of the default browser. It might be that this will still fail when Adobe Reader is running in Protected Mode, but we're making a conscious decision to run it without protected mode in some contexts so that we can use these links.

19. save all closed tabs

    It would be nice to have a 'save all closed tabs'. Then I can re-open these on the next session. Unfortunately, this option is still not available.
    Google has such extension called OneTab. Something similar on Adobe Reader would be great!
    This has been requested by several others (see in comments https://acrobat.uservoice.com/forums/590923-acrobat-for-windows-and-mac/suggestions/31145458-save-all-tabs-with-one-click)

    Once you re-start, you should just be able to re-open the whole bunch of pdf's that you closed before with one click

20. Bug - touchscreen highlighting while viewing multiple pages

    Hello, I have found a bug. When in the following configuration:

    • Read Mode OR Fixed-width scrolling
    • Viewing two pages at once (i.e. bottom of one page and top of the next page are both visible on screen)
    • Using the touchscreen of my 2-in-1 (HP Elitebook G4 if that's relevant) to highlight text

    I am able to tap once to select a word on either page, but one one of the two pages, I am not able to alter that selection (i.e. grab the little handles at either end of the selection and expand it to include more text). Instead, it treats the gesture as if I am using the pan tool, and attempts to scroll left/right (and if I drag up/down on the handles the page scrolls without changing the selected text).

    Upon some experimentation I found that:

    • I have no problems using the touchscreen to select text when viewing a single page (in any view mode). I assume Reader is somehow detecting the "active" page, maybe the one most visible on the screen or something, and treating touchscreen gestures on the two pages differently.
    • When I use the trackpad/cursor to select text (in read mode or fixed-width scrolling), there is no problem and I am able to adjust the selection. It's only using the touchscreen.
    • If the word I initially select is on the "active" page I am able to drag the selection handle to select text over both pages, but not when the initial selected word is on the "inactive" page.

    A relatively uncommon scenario for most users I think, but it's juuust disruptive and irritating enough to prompt me to post about it here (and yes, I'm aware I've spent longer typing this bug report than the cumulative time the bug will take from me! Please fix so that the time can at least be a martyr for all touchscreen users time!) :)
