  1. I'm using Adobe Acrobat Reader DC Version 2021.001.20150. I think you introduced a bug in the latest version, because I can no longer find a way to print double-sided. I'm using an HP Envy 4500 printer, which certainly does support double-sided printing, and I've used Acrobat Reader for years, but lately I can no longer print double-sided. When I press Properties in the print dialog box, that choice no longer appears.

  2. When double clicking a file in Windows Explorer where the path is longer than 260 characters does not work as default. But I have been able to create a workaround that enable this.

If I type the following in cmd.exe:
AcroRd32.exe "C:\Very long path\file.pdf" then that will fail.

If I enable "Enable Win32 long paths" in Group Policy and try the same command, then it works. This means that long paths are supported when it is enabled in Windows.

    I created a bat-file like this:
    set str=%1
    set str=%str:\?=%
    AcroRd32.exe %str%

This will remove \?\ from the first argument and…

  4. I have had issues for several months with the thumbnails on PDF icons only. They are sometimes transparent, solid black, or have the PDF icon only. I have uninstalled and reinstalled many times. I have "enable PDF thumbnails in Windows Explorer" selected. Adobe Acrobat DC Reader is my default program with version 2021.001.20135. I have tried many things over a while, as this really was bugging me. Tonight I installed "Fixes for 64-bit Adobe Reader preview handler and thumbnails" from:
    https://www.pretentiousname.com/adobe_pdf_x64_fix/index.html#thank

I figured I had nothing to lose and surprisingly it fixed the issue, especially as it hasn't been updated…

  5. When you select and open a list of pdfs, the tabs are currently opened in a seemingly random order. It would be very helpful if they opened in list order. I either have to open each file one at a time, or spend ages re-ordering tabs. It's frustrating, and impacts my work every day (because I need to open many pdfs at once, in order).

  7. I am an IT manager with 28 PCs and 5 Macs. Cannot print mixed originals with latest DC version. Mac version still works. I've had to reactivate XI on some machines because we rely heavily on printing mixed originals. Obviously XI is no longer supported and I am running into other issues with that.

  8. Reader highlights, but doesn't copy the accented Greek alpha with smooth breathing in text:

GREEK SMALL LETTER ALPHA WITH PSILI
    Unicode: U+1F00, UTF-8: E1 BC 80

pdftotext reads it just fine, as does MacOS PDF reading system.

    Example PDF: https://geoffreysteadman.files.wordpress.com/2014/09/platosymp-sept14.pdf

letter on several pages including p. 22.

  9. We have multiple users with this intermittent issue. Some times the PDF font will show up properly, sometimes it is gibberish and unreadable. It is inconsistent and I cannot seem to resolve the issue.

  10. We have a web based application running on our Citrix environment. We are running Windows Server 2016 (1607) and Citrix VAD 1912 LTSR CU1. The users login to the web based application and eventually it will trigger the opening of a PDF within Internet Explorer. This process will work most the time but we find after the user does anywhere from 7-10 instances of the process Internet Explorer will crash.

We first monitored performance on our server but identified there are no CPU/RAM bottlenecks. We even isolated users to one server to test and they still have the issue. We…

  11. According to:

    https://helpx.adobe.com/uk/acrobat/kb/flash-format-support-in-pdf.html

"Playback of non-Flash media (excluding *.flv and *.swf) content in PDFs will continue to be supported."

I tested the sample-formatter-richmedia.pdf file in Acrobat Reader "Continuous Release 2020.009.20074" with Flash disabled and the video was not playable.

  12. Hello, I have found a bug. When in the following configuration:

    • Read Mode OR Fixed-width scrolling
    • Viewing two pages at once (i.e. bottom of one page and top of the next page are both visible on screen)
    • Using the touchscreen of my 2-in-1 (HP Elitebook G4 if that's relevant) to highlight text

I am able to tap once to select a word on either page, but one one of the two pages, I am not able to alter that selection (i.e. grab the little handles at either end of the selection and expand it to include more text). Instead, it…

  14. As of this post, Adobe Reader allows for the option to connect your Google Drive account to it, to view pdfs from the "My Drive" folder (on Google Drive) on the Reader.

    Description of desired feature:
I would like the option to view pdfs in folders that are in the "Shared with Me" folder of Google Drive along with the ones in "My Drive"

    Why this feature is needed:
Increases the utility of the Adobe Reader on Google Drive.

  16. Acrobat Reader is unable to correctly interpret some mountpoint reparse points (junctions). In practical terms: Acrobat Reader is unable to access PDF files from file systems mounted as directories and this is the root cause of the problem.

Junctions are special symbolic links that are used in many scenarios; an important one is when a file system is mounted as a directory rather than a regular drive. Junctions contain 2 paths: a “substitute” path which must be a path in the NTOS namespace (not a Win32 path) and a “print” path, which is to be used for display to…

  17. Edit >> Preferences >> Language >> Application Language.

Change to CHOOSE AT APPLICATION STARTUP

This setting is IGNORED: No way to choose at startup, and the setting reverts back to English.

Windows 10, 2004, Adobe Acrobat Reader ver. 2020.013.20064

    Reproduced on 2 different machines.

  18. I have a Microsoft Word file that has custom page size specified in the layout (specifically width 6.14" height 9.14"). There are also custom margins. When I convert to pdf via File > Print > Microsoft Print to PDF a pdf file is created but the page size is not correct. A pdf file is created that is 8.5"x11" not 6.14"x9.21". After trying to debug and spending 6+ hours with Microsoft tech support, there seems to be a problem on the Adobe side when the Word file is passed to Adobe to be converted into a pdf. I have noticed…

  19. The DFS bug has shown it's head again. Win 2019 servers offering DFS fileshares to Win10 clients will no longer allow multiple PDFs to be opened from the OS interface, because of Protected Mode.

Any other combination works fine (non-Win2019, non-Win10, non-DFS shares, disable Protected Mode).

Now that the vastly popular Win 2008r2 is out of support, many more organizations are upgrading to Win 2019. Disabling Protected Mode via registry GPO is a poor workaround.

    Please fix!

  20. When viewing PDF documents containing images on my wide gamut monitor using Acrobat Read DC (Windows 10), images have oversaturated colors.
The same PDFs looks OK when opened in Photoshop or previewed in Bridge.

    See also this thread:

I have done some systematic testing. There seems to be a color management problem/error in the (urrent Windows version of Acrobat Reader DC:

    Procedure

I have made two test images:

    • image-AdobeRGB.jpg: - a JPEG image file with an Adobe RGB (1998) embedded color profile
    • image-sRGB.jpg: - a JPEG image file with a sRGB IEC61966-2.1 embedded color profile

    For each image…
