  1. From an inclusion lens, there's a significant population of Indigenous peoples whose language is not represented in any Adobe products. More Indigenous languages should be added to Acrobats language capabilities to inform screen readers of how to properly output Indigenous words.

There are two problems with how Adobe is approaching its lack of inclusion of Indigenous languages.

    1. There should be more Indigenous languages added.
    2. The mono-language setting for a document is limiting and doesn't allow for the diversity of multiple languages to help communicate the message appropriately.

There are over 70 Indigenous languages in Canada. Adobe is a leader in…

  2. If using a PC with NVidia graphic cards, hardware acceleration is automatically deactivated if protected mode on startup is active. This slows down 3D PDFs significantly.

Deactivating Protected Mode on Startup allows for hardware acceleration again.

  3. Get rid of the tools pane by default. No one I have ever met wants it there by default. Please get rid of it.

  4. The collapsed Right Tool Pane violates usability principles. To quickly scroll a page, users can no longer just drag the mouse cursor all the way Right, to click on the Right scroll bar. This would probably take only 1 sec. With the annoying Right Tool Pane collapsed, nesting right beside the Right scroll bar, users must now carefully drag the mouse cursor, take aim so-as-to not click on the Right collapsed pane, then can he/ she click on the right scroll bar. This is really slow and inefficient.

  5. The tools pane is large and must be closed every time I open Adobe. Please provide an option to close the tools pane so it is remembered by default

  6. hide the "all tools" toolbar by default. this toolbar is only needed sometimes. this feature is enabled for the exception instead of the rule. since it takes up one-third of the display window and is on the left, it is distracting. when it was on the right, it wasn't as distracting. when viewing many pdfs over the course of the day, having to give up one third of the screen to a useless toolbar is frustrating.

  7. The Reader app (all platforms) should be more generalized to allow "reading" of both EPUB or PDF documents.

Similarly, we should be able to embed an EPUB into a PDF file. (PDF has a robust method that allows it to embed other file formats.)

Then, we should have a switch in Reader that would let a user to switch from PDF to reflowable EPUB and back again.

While I understand that Adobe is investing heavily in Liquid Mode, this EPUB method would be far more reliable for people who need to control the design of both static and reflowable modes.

  8. When multiple documents is opened in multiple tabs in Acrobat Reader, and when hover mouse over the Reader icon on the taskbar, it shows multiple windows in preview instead of one window. It would be a good thing to add that as a option so that behavior is similar as Google Chrome or Mozilla Firefox which shows one window and active tab instead of multiple windows in the taskbar. It is really struggle to deal with multiple documents and when you want to restore minimized Reader window to the last opened tab.

  9. Adobe Reader DC corrupts URLs in external links when the PDF is encrypted.

This does not happen in other PDF readers.

We create password protected PDFs which contain links to external URLs.
These links work fine when we view the generated PDFs in chrome and firefox.
But the links are getting corrupted by Acrobat Reader.
One or more characters are getting corrupted (e.g "https://mywebiste.com/1234567" is trying to link to "https://mywebiste.com/123:567" or "https://my?ebiste.com/1234567")

I have attached a sample file.

This problem persisted when there was only one link at the location and if a longer…

  10. [Problem]
Comparing Acrobat Pro/Reader 32-bit, the PMI and the outline of 3D model are unclear on Acrobat Reader DC 64-bit.
(Please find the attached sample PDF and captures, test01-03.)

"DirectX 9" is able to be selected from the renderer option on Acrobat Pro/Reader 32-bit.
    (Edit -> Preferences -> Multimedia & 3D -> Preferred Renderer)
However, it doesn't exist on Acrobat Reader DC 64-bit. So, only "Software" is available.
Therefore, the PMI and the outline of 3D model are unclear.
(Please find the attached captures #1&#2.)

    [Tested Acrobat Version]
    Acrobat Reader DC 64-bit: 2021.011.20039
    Acrobat Pro 2020 32-bit (classic): 2020.004.30020
    Acrobat…

  12. Acrobat Reader is unable to correctly interpret some mountpoint reparse points (junctions). In practical terms: Acrobat Reader is unable to access PDF files from file systems mounted as directories and this is the root cause of the problem.

Junctions are special symbolic links that are used in many scenarios; an important one is when a file system is mounted as a directory rather than a regular drive. Junctions contain 2 paths: a “substitute” path which must be a path in the NTOS namespace (not a Win32 path) and a “print” path, which is to be used for display to…

  14. Please make an Always Show Comments Bar option. I work with the stamp, shape and text box tools on many PDFs daily. I have to open the comments toolbar for each one of them. While it's a small thing to do on one PDF, it gets old fast when it must be done for each of many PDFs every day.

  15. I am a Creative Cloud All Apps annual plan subscriber since 2 years ago, here by writing to file my formal complaint regarding to Acrobat Reader DC installer (downloaded from here in the first result from Google: https://get.adobe.com/tw/reader/) forcefully installing McAfee to my machine with NO EXPLICIT TERMS TO NOTIFY USER before installation NOR ANY CLEAR OPTIONS TO LET USER UNCHECK MCAFEE installation, my installation of the Acrobat Reader was being abandoned due to having Acrobat Pro DC being installed whereas the INSTALLER STILL PROCEEDS TO INSTALL MCAFEE.
Several attempts has been made to terminate the installation, however, every…

  16. I'm in my web browser, and like 99.99% of other applications, you know what's on the right side of the window? A SCROLL BAR.

Whoever at Adobe decided that you guys are so special that you could break this rule by adding a menu...needs to be shot.

At the very least give us an option to move it to a NORMAL menu position for cripes sake.

But this is horrible. Are you guys sharing UI dev people with Facebook or something?

  17. Suggestions for this feature:
    1. Add read out loud to the toolbar for easier access, including pause and play options. The read out loud feature is currently very inaccessible from the "view" drop down menu.
    2. Allow user to choose where to start reading and stop reading by highlighting text, rather than the limited ability to only read full pages / the entire document
    3. Upgrade voice - please consider adding a more adaptive voice to the program for read out loud. the system default is not pleasant for listening and we know the technology exists to have more advanced AI…

    Hi,
Thanks for connecting with us. I went though all the requests suggested by you. I would like to inform you that :
For #1, Shortcut keys exist for Pause, Play like Ctrl+Shift+Y/V/B.
For #2, the feature is supported. Click on any paragraph after enabling Read Out Loud and it will read the paragraph. For specific content read, we have informed the management and have been kept in radar for future improvements.
For #3, you can add the voices though system language setting and the voices will be visible in Acrobat if they exists on system.
For $4, we have informed the management and have been kept in radar for future improvements.

Try the latest enhancements and features on the latest version of Acrobat Pro DC.

    Thanks
    Rachit

  18. If "All Tools" was a living creature, I'd destroy it with Samurai inspired violence!

If you add a "disable sidebar" function to a near future build, I'll build you a state-of-the-art spaceship that's fitted with cannons that shoot armies of blood thirsty killer crocodiles @ all your enemies. The crocodiles have cybernetic eyes that shoot swarms of heat-seeking killer bees that were trained by the legendary Samurai, Miyamoto Musashi.

Discuss my "Once In A Lifetime" offer with your DEV team & report back.

  19. It is very inconvenient and time consuming to make multiple clicks in order to zoom in or out the document. In the older versions they were separate and easily accessible. Drop down menu style is really exhausting and time consuming for these kind of basic operations. Please separate the zoom buttons !

  20. The DFS bug has shown it's head again. Win 2019 servers offering DFS fileshares to Win10 clients will no longer allow multiple PDFs to be opened from the OS interface, because of Protected Mode.

Any other combination works fine (non-Win2019, non-Win10, non-DFS shares, disable Protected Mode).

Now that the vastly popular Win 2008r2 is out of support, many more organizations are upgrading to Win 2019. Disabling Protected Mode via registry GPO is a poor workaround.

    Please fix!
