    We figured out that Acrobat does some checks towards Acroipm.adobe.com. Status indicated that this product was not supported anymore.

    We added the following entries in the local hosts file:
    127.0.0.1 Acroipm.adobe.com
    127.0.0.1 Acroipm.adobe.com.edgesuite.net
    127.0.0.1 *.dscd.akamai.net
    And then it did not shut down anymore...
