    I found an option where you can switch between the old user interface and the new user interface. If you are in the new version, go to the 3 lines, click down under View, and click Disable New Acrobat. The same way in the old version. See my screenshot.

    They will never give an explanation, that's for sure.

    The most recent update has the worst user interface and is also very confusing; while Adobe apps always have a good user interface and are simple in most of their apps, Adobe Acrobat's user interface is bad this time.
