    If you also get an error code 135 when trying to save the problem file, this solution in the community discussion might help:

    "This error generally occurs due to the incompatibility of settings between the version of Acrobat that created the pdf and the version of Acrobat that is being used to view the pdf. To resolve this issue just go to preferences, click on “General” tab, and then uncheck the “Save As optimizes for Fast Web View”."

    I found that setting in preferences under “Documents,” not “General” (Acrobat Pro XI).
