We acknowledge that the new Acrobat represents a notable change, however we hope that as you get familiar with the new interface, you can be more productive & get more out of Acrobat. Our users always play an integral role in shaping our product. Extensive customer research and invaluable insights from our users led us to reimagine the existing Acrobat viewer experience.
In the modern viewer, we've maintained a keen awareness of the tools our users are accustomed to. These tools retain their familiar functionalities and workflows designed to work as seamlessly as they did in the older version.
Extensive research, testing, and iterative refinement led us to a pivotal decision—creating three core categories known as mega verbs. These mega verbs—Edit, Convert, and Sign—serve as comprehensive groupings for over 250 individual tools spread across 26 verbs.
The new framework comprises the following characteristics:
• The hamburger menu is a comprehensive Windows-only menu that combines all the options in the currently available File, Edit, and View menus. On macOS, the File, Edit, and View menus continue to appear separately.
• The 'All tools’ panel lets you access the whole list of Acrobat tools from your document.
• The global bar provides a single-entry point to tools such as Edit, Convert, and Sign without losing or changing their document view. This lends fluidity and enhances usability as it allows users to seamlessly switch between Editing text, Re-arranging pages and then Sending for signing.
• The quick tools panel consists of individual tools, such as annotating and filling out forms. This panel can also be customized for specific workflow requirements.
• The search field allows you to not only search for content within the document but also find and access tools.
• The right rail is from where you can bookmark, view, or navigate pages and access zoom settings and viewing options. We would also like to highlight that we have exhaustively tested these changes with users over the past 12 months, keenly monitoring user behaviour & addressing top user issues before gradually rolling out the new interface to the Acrobat user base.
A point to note is that as we made these changes in the interface, we have tried to ensure all tools & features that are currently supported, retain their familiar functionalities and workflows as they did in the previous version. We are committed to address any gaps or issues reported by users related to any break in current workflows in all our past & upcoming releases. In case any of your current workflows are not functioning as expected, do share it with us on this thread, and we will address them with the highest priority..
In case any of your critical workflows are impacted, and you have the option to switch back to the old UI from the “Menu” on the top left corner on windows, and View Menu on MacOS.
We will follow up on this response with a detailed blog post explaining the changes, a guide to help familiarise you to the new interface, along with regular updates on upcoming changes.
Thank you once again for your feedback, and do look forward to our upcoming releases ! -

We acknowledge that the new Acrobat represents a notable change, however we hope that as you get familiar with the new interface, you can be more productive & get more out of Acrobat. With the new interface we aim to
1. Provide a simplified viewing experience that helps reduce clutter & optimise it for most used PDF actions that are relevant while viewing a document.
2. Easily allow users to discover PDF tools they need by ensuring tools are intuitively grouped and a click away,
a. For example, all tools that allow content, page & file level edits can be found under one action-based verb called “Edit”; tools that allow converting files to & from PDFs can be found under “Convert”; tools that allow filling & signing documents or requesting signatures from others under “Sign”.
b. Using the new search functionality present in top right corner, you can now search not only text in document but also search and access tools.
3. Most importantly, the new interface enables users to effortlessly move between different PDF tools to complete their document related tasks
a. For example, someone viewing comments in a PDF should also be able to easily edit the text of it without interrupting their workflow
b. A user can seamlessly perform page level edits such as reordering, inserting, extracting, rotating or deleting pages while editing content and/or commenting on the file

We have been actively listening to the feedback from this community to swiftly incorporate them into our upcoming releases, a few of which are below
1. Lack of an ability to customize the user interface
a. Users will soon be able to drag the floating quick tools bar anywhere within the viewer to prevent overlap with the top left of the document
b. Ability to pin commonly used tools for easy access
2. Discoverability of specific top user actions & tools
a. Easy access to undo & redo on the top bar
b. Easy access to all page display, navigation & zoom tools such as 2-page view, 2 pages with scrolling, marquee & dynamic zoom etc., from the bottom right menu
c. Improved discovery of common file-level actions such as Save As, Print, Protect using the password from the Menu.
