1. Phantom lines in ruler when moving cursor

   Moving my cursor throughout the document leaves phantom lines in the rulers. This seems to have begun with recent app upgrade (current version: 2026.001.21367 64-bit). See 3 photos attached: one with no movement, one with movement down & right, one with movement down/right/up/left. The phantom lines obscure the ruler measurements. This appears to be a bug in the app. Older versions do not present the issue, but I am unable to downgrade.

2. Option to Remove the AI assistant and all AI tools.

3. Remove AI, remove upsells, remove feedback and focus on productivity

   This is a business critical app that costs a lot of money (as part of the CC subscription). I want to open PDFs quickly, review them, close them and move on with my work. Instead, every time EVERY SINGLE TIME I open a PDF, you ask for feedback - PLEASE RATE THIS 1-10 HOW LIKELY ARE YOU TO RECOMMEND TO A COLLEAGUE?... then another window pops up that completely disables the app (can't even resize the application window) that tells me about all the new eatures you've added and you hide the close button so I have to hunt for it.

   Then when I've closed all Acrobat windows and try to move a PDF in File Explorer, it can't be moved, because, SURPRISE... Acrobat is still running. Open task manager, and there are 12 Acrobat processes running, even though Acrobat is not open anymore. After manually end-tasking these processes, I was finally able to move the PDF.

   JUST STOP. I pay for the app. That should be enough. I don't want AI, I don't want upsells, I don't want popups, I don't want fancy options, I don't want to recommend this to colleagues, I just want to open PDFs and do my job efficiently, and at the moment, this application is an absolute neusance and is debilitating to efficiency.

   Please PLEASE remember that this is a business-critical app. It's not a Barbie doll that requires pushing, makeup and marketing - it just needs to open PDFs and be fast about it. No popups, no AI, no nonsense. Or at least give me the ability to turn off all the nonsense and toggle to "work mode" (currently, to disable all this nonsense, you have to click through 20 preference screens, and even when I've disabled everything, including the AI, you STILL show the me the AI, and you STILL show me popups and upsells.

   PLEASE STOP.

5. I miss the Acrobat that just opened the file and did the work.

   I know competition, software development, and dealing with the public is hard, but I've been waiting for Acrobat's 2025 "give them so many popups that they realize how valuable we are" tactic to go away and it's just not happening. It looks like my windows machine is caught up in a war for which app is going to be opening PDFs, and I'm sad that y'all are going through that, but incessantly pestering of your paying customers just isn't the way. Some days it feels like an early 2000s infected web browser with the 'feature' ai and sharing popups. I miss the Acrobat that just opened the file and did the work. Sometimes, I'm opening these files up in front of people, and it feels like I'm using a free account with ads, even though I'm a paying customer personally and through the companies I work for.

6. Old UI was Better

   Basically the old Adobe Acrobat Reader UI was significantly better and it continues to get worse. I often hop from PC to PC and every time I need to reinstall Reader I have to go and hunt down the settings to change everything back. It's taxing. Obnoxious. Here are the most important key changes that I have to make every time:

   1. The toolbar used to be docked at the top of the screen with tools like select, highlight, page navigation (back, forward, page up, page down), zoom, etc. Now it is a floating pane. I need it docked at the top.

   2. Page navigation tools including TOC and bookmarks used to be docked on the left side of the app. Now it's not there. I need it docked left.

   3. More tools used to be docked on the right side of the app like Export PDF, Edit PDF, Create PDF, etc and I could collapse it so I didn't actually see it. Now it is replaced with some kind of page navigation pane with "Edit, delete, or reply to comments", "Add, delete, or go to a specific bookmark", page thumbnails, next page and previous page and zoom. I need it the other older way.

   4. The old app interface had File, Edit, View, Sign, Window, Help in the top toolbar with Home and Tools in a toolbar just below that with the open files as tabs next to them in that same toolbar. Now there is just a Menu button with a bunch of options and a home button and the open files as tabs next to that menu and home button. I need it the old way.

   There's more too but this where I have to start over each time. It's awful. Why did you one day just decide the way everyone had been using it for years needed to be changed? And now I have to keep changing it back and have been doing so for years and I'm sick of it.

   And while I'm at it, remove any traces of AI from your products. Didn't ask for it. Don't need it. Don't want it.

7. Stop asking to make Acrobat the default PDF program

   I said "No" I don't want Acrobat to be my default app for PDF files. Acrobat DC asks me again every time I start the program. That is intrusive and abusive, there is already a button on the start screen for that. Let me choose not to be asked again. I know how to do it through Acrobat (it's in plain sight already) or through the operating system settings.

8. Cannot see Tool, Edit, Convert, or Sign Menus

   There is something wrong with the side menu. When I first open a document, I can see the All Tools menu on the left, but as soon as I click a tool or click one of the other side bar categories, I can see that it pulls up the tools menu but it's like stuck behind a shadow of the previous side menu and there's nothing I can do. Pressing the X doesn't close the tools, and it is basically stuck like this until I close the document and reopen, even with clicking the other options at the top like Edit, Convert or Sign. I just updated it to the newest version, and it didn't fix anything; This was happening before the update and it's still happening with the newest update.

   There is something wrong with the side menu. 9. Tabs duplicate in windows taskbar

   Bug. I work with two monitors, and when I have the Adobe Acrobat window on one monitor, it shows as it should, but when I move the window to the other monitor the icons in the Windows taskbar multiplies, which get very annoying after just a few open dokuments. If I try to close a tab, the "duplicate" window in the taskbar is still there but empty. It has been like this for the last two updates of Acrobat I think. Please fix this error!

10. Provide a simple way to view a PDF document without distractions

    Every time I doubleclick a PDF file to view its content, Acrobat pops up messages asking me to confirm that I have noticed some feature I do not need, provide feedback, use the AI assistant I do not want, review the tools I have no use for. Please provide an option to switch off all these distracting messages, buttons and toolbars and just plainly and simply display the content of the PDF file on the screen with no frills.

12. Remove internal ads from paid version of Acrobat

    Can we please have a debloated home screen in Adobe Acrobat?

    Looking at the current layout, half the screen is wasted on stuff I’ll never use:
    • Curated project ads like “Unlock your sales potential with TED” — this isn’t why I opened Acrobat.
    • AI features pushing “summarize your notes” when all I want is to view and edit PDFs.
    • Meeting transcription integration — how is this even related to a PDF tool?

    And the strangest part: if I’m running Acrobat DC (formerly Acrobat Pro, Acrobat X, etc.), that already means I’m a paying customer. Why is the home screen still trying to upsell me with irrelevant promos?

    All of this clutters the interface and makes the actual purpose of Acrobat harder to reach. A Publisher Mode without ads, promos, or unrelated features would make Acrobat far more usable.

13. BUG: Large Gap Between Pages in Two-Page View

    Steps to reproduce:
    1. Generate a PDF from InDesign with Left to Right binding
    2. Open that PDF in Acrobat
    3. Select "Two-Page View" in the View > Page Display menu
    4. BUG: Observe a 3-cm-wide gap between facing pages.
    5. Press command+0 to "Zoom to page level", and observe the gap disappears.
    6. Press command+0 again, and observe the gap reappears

14. BUG: Acrobat menu disappeared

    Since yesterday, the sidebar menus are no longer visible in the Acrobat Pro desktop interface. This bug affects both PC and Mac. Please fix the issue as soon as possible.

17. Overall Assessment of Acrobat Pro 2026

    I posted a critique earlier of Acrobat’s new UI, particularly the clumsy way users have to move in and out of the AI Assistant and navigate between different workspaces. After spending more time with Acrobat 2026, however, I want to walk back some of those criticisms. I’m beginning to view this release a little differently.

    Perhaps Adobe might have been better served by releasing Acrobat 2026 as a beta. I’m sure the development team is continuing to refine the program, and hopefully we’ll see improvements soon. That said, Acrobat 2026 includes some remarkable advances.

    One improvement addresses something I’ve been asking Adobe to do for nearly two decades. The new Tools panel and floating Tools Toolbar may be among the most significant workspace improvements Adobe has made in years. Users can configure the floating toolbar with the tools they use most often while relying on the All Tools panel for everything else. Together, they provide a flexible and nearly complete workspace for virtually any task.

    I would still like to see a few improvements:

    Allow the floating Toolbar to expand into two vertical columns, with a preference setting for choosing a single- or dual-column display.

    Allow the Toolbar to float over the All Tools panel on the left, freeing up a little more valuable workspace.

    Add a menu command for saving custom Workspaces. Someone working extensively with forms needs a very different workspace from someone creating interactive PDFs, conducting document reviews, preparing files for commercial printing, or working with dissertations and reports. Let users configure Acrobat for a particular task, name that workspace, save it, and return to it whenever needed.

    Another very nice addition to Acrobat 2026 is PDF Spaces. For anyone working on projects that require access to multiple files, this new feature can be a real blessing.

    Acrobat AI Assistant is the beginning of something potentially wonderful, although it still needs improvement. I’ve run several experiments comparing JavaScript queries in Acrobat AI Assistant with the same queries in ChatGPT, and so far I’ve found ChatGPT considerably better at producing the code I need. With AI Assistant, I sometimes had to struggle through several attempts before arriving at workable JavaScript routines. The feature holds tremendous promise, but it still needs some refinement.

    The most important improvement Adobe needs to make, in my opinion, is making it easier for users to move around the Acrobat workspace and transition between different tasks. For example, when working in PDF Spaces, getting back to a normal document-editing environment can sometimes be unnecessarily difficult.

    The AI Assistant can also consume as much as 70 percent of the workspace. That may be fine when I’m actively using it, but when I’m working on a document, I want it out of the way. A simple Close button would solve much of the problem. Having a button available to open AI Assistant whenever it’s needed makes perfect sense—but let us completely dismiss it when we’re working on documents and don’t need AI assistance.

    The Home screen could also use some simplification. Right now, it feels a little like a novice graphic designer trying to fit War and Peace onto a postage stamp. The Recent Files list is useful, but I’d trim down the rest of the Home screen and give everything a little more breathing room.

    There also appear to be some bugs that need attention. After working on documents and then entering a PDF Space, for example, clicking the Home button sometimes does nothing.

    In short, I believe one of the most important things Adobe can do to gain broader user acceptance of Acrobat 2026 is improve the way users move around the workspace. Navigation between documents, PDF Spaces, editing tools, and AI Assistant needs to be simple, intuitive, and painless.

    We all know Adobe is heavily focused on AI features right now, and there’s nothing wrong with that. AI Assistant has enormous potential. But it shouldn’t overwhelm the Acrobat experience. Give us the Assistant when we need it—and let us completely dismiss it when we don’t.

    Once again, the total morons on the Acrobat Development Team decided to again make our lives difficult. What idiot created that awful Home Screen when the user launches the new Acrobat? And the stupid moron didn't even provide a preference setting to permit the end user to choose whether we want to see it or not. When is Adobe going to start listening to users? Can you really afford these *****-ups as web apps are increasing and rivaling many of your software applications? Remember Quark? Are you going to continue down a path and follow that company to extinction because they didn't listen to their customers?

19. Incorrect gap between facing pages with "Two-Up (Cover Page)" and "Default" magnification in right-to-left documents

    Steps to reproduce

    Open a PDF document in Adobe Acrobat Pro.
    Set the document to right-to-left (right-bound) page direction.
    Open File > Properties > Initial View.
    Set Page Layout to Two-Up (Cover Page).
    Set Magnification to Default.
    Save the PDF.
    Close and reopen the PDF.

    Expected result

    For a right-to-left (right-bound) document, facing pages should be displayed next to each other normally in Two-Up (Cover Page) view, with the normal gutter between the left and right pages.

    Actual result

    When the document is right-to-left (right-bound), the left and right pages are displayed with an abnormally large gap between them.

    This problem occurs specifically when Page Layout is set to "Two-Up (Cover Page)", Magnification is set to "Default", and the document uses right-to-left (right-bound) page direction.

    If the magnification is changed from Default to another magnification setting, the facing pages are displayed correctly and the abnormal gap disappears.

    The issue does not occur with left-to-right (left-bound) documents.

    This issue is still reproducible in Adobe Acrobat Pro 2026.001.21789 (64-bit).

    Steps to reproduce

    Open a PDF document in Adobe Acrobat Pro.
    Set the document to right-to-left (right-bound) page direction.
    Open File > Properties > Initial View.
    Set Page Layout to Two-Up (Cover Page).
    Set Magnification to Default.
    Save the PDF.
    Close and reopen the PDF.

    Expected result

    For a right-to-left (right-bound) document, facing pages should be displayed next to each other normally in Two-Up (Cover Page) view, with the normal gutter between the left and right pages.

20. "Always Show Document Page Size" preference does not display the page size

    Updated to the latest version on August 14, 2026

    Steps to reproduce

    Open Preferences.
    Select the Page Display category.
    Enable "Always Show Document Page Size".
    Click OK.
    Open or view a PDF document.

    Expected result

    The document page size should be displayed next to the horizontal scroll bar.

    Actual result

    The document page size is not displayed, even though "Always Show Document Page Size" is enabled in Preferences.

    This issue is still reproducible after updating Acrobat to the latest version available on August 14, 2026.

    The preference currently appears to have no effect.
