I now know how the phantom files were created. Instead of selecting an internet available pdf file by selecting Adobe PDF, I selected print and then Adobe PDF hoping to obtain a searchable pdf. The adobe app announced that the file type was not recognized. Instead of rejecting the file, the app places the title into the file system. I am left with a phantom file that can’t be accessed in any way. I believe the only way to delete will be to transfer my files and delete the app. Then, I can download the app and restore the transferred files.
