I have a similar issue to Mike Dolbow with the "ti" combination: I tried editing a pdf in Calibri (generated on a pc) using Adobe Acrobat Pro DC version 2020.013.20074 on my Mac (10.15.7), and for any edit I attempted (e.g. adding bold to a word or replacing a comma with a period), it removed the letter combination "ti" from all of the words in the same text box. "Initiative" became "Ini a ve", "partial" became "par al". This is AFTER I went and downloaded the Calibri font, because Acrobat was using Minion Pro as a substitute (said I didn't have Calibri installed, even though it is the default font in use with MS Word on this machine). Another section of the same pdf used Garamond and I had no issue editing that section.
