Agreed. For me, the tiny black arrow is virtually invisible when viewing normal documents with black text on a white background.

I agree. For me, your tiny black arrow is very difficult to see/find. I normally use a coloured cursor, which is much easier to see against black text. This is an accessibility issue as many people have trouble with eyesight, which is why Windows has so many different options for the cursor size, colour, etc.

Hi Rob Mer. Thank you for your comment. The function to collapse the tools pane has indeed existed for some time. However, that is not what this post is requesting.
When collapsed, the tools pane still exists as a narrow bar with a single triangle in it, to the right of the scrollbar. This means that clicking on the scrollbar is harder than it needs to be because it requires precise positioning of the mouse.
Hence this post requests an alternative, easier-to-use design, e.g. a button to open the tools pane rather than a bar to the right of the scrollbar.
