    Seems like the problem was fixed today. Adobe released a hotfix patch here for people that do not do automatic updates:
    https://www.adobe.com/devnet-docs/acrobatetk/tools/ReleaseNotesDC/continuous/dccontinuousaug2024qfe.html

    I was unable to test the hotfix, because my copy of the Adobe PDF Reader was updated automatically from 2024.002.21005 to 2024.003.20054, today and the gargled font problem was fixed.
