I have personally tested a few tools to transfer OST files to MBOX format. Then, i found SysTools OST to MBOX Converter which impressed me the most. It's easy to use and really saved my crucial time. Had a few orphaned OST files and wanted to use the emails in Thunderbird. It worked like a pro. The OST file is automatically loaded and you can preview all of your emails before converting them into MBOX. I also appreciate that it works with both ANSI and Unicode OST files and doesn’t jumble up the folder structure.

I encountered the same problem the time when I needed to convert OST files to PST without Outlook. After using many tools, I came to the SysTools OST to PST Converter which worked wonderfully for me. And the best part is that it does not rely on Outlook and can convert as many files you want in a single go. There’s no file size limit either. I did preview all the mailbox items including emails, contacts, calendars, etc., before the conversion and that was really a good one. It also supported corrupted as well as orphaned OST files without issues.
The user interface is so friendly and it converts easily. You just have to load the OST, and then select the location for the converted PST file. It also preserves the folder tree and metadata after transformation which saved me lots of import time.

If you want to extract attachments from a PST file, it’s actually quite simple.
If you have Microsoft Outlook, open it and go to File > Open & Export > Open Outlook Data File. Select your PST file and open the folder where your emails are stored. Open any email, right-click on the attachment, and click Save As to download it to your computer. If an email has multiple attachments, you can choose Save All Attachments to save them together.
This works well if you only need attachments from a few emails.
But if your PST file is large and contains many emails, saving attachments one by one can take a lot of time. In that case, you can go for any professional solution that allows bulk extraction. These tools can extract all attachments at once and save them into a separate folder, which helps save time and effort.
