Hi, apologies if this issue has since been resolved. But I am still having the same issue of 'PDF Tag Panel does not match Reading Order Tool by marking all Tags as Span'.
It is now 2025. Has this bug been fixed?
The bug report was originally filed on 2019. From the comments, seems it was fixed (?) in 2023 but an update has broken this again?
I have attached a screenshot of my file:
• Created in Word (Microsoft 365 Apps for enterprise. Version 2412.)
• The styles used were just the default heading styles. I have not altered any of the styles.
• Exported to PDF using two ways: Save As PDF and Export as PDF, but produced the same results: Tags show as Span tags in Reading order tool.
• I have to use an older Acrobat Pro version at work: Adobe Acrobat Pro 2020, 2020 Release (Classic). Version 2020.005.30748
• On my screenshot I have the Tags panel with the correct tags. The Document view shows Span tags.
• When the Object Properties > Tag is inspected, the tag type is Heading Level 1. When Object Properties > Content is inspected, the container type is Span, and the Structure Tag is Heading Level 1.
• In the Content pane, it shows as 'Container <Span> This is a Heading 1 style.' instead of 'Container <H1> This is a Heading 1 style.'
• I tried to manually edit the container tag, from Span to Heading Level 1, and did this for all the tags across the document.
• It is tedious to manually update the tags this way so I will not continue with this method. Besides, when I checked the PDF on PAC 2024, and I got a new issue: 'Structural parent tree > Inconsistent entry found.' although this may be or may not be related to the bug.
Has the bug been fixed or has anyone found a method that works?
Edit/added comment: I am aware that our work version of Acrobat is still 2020 version. I will replicate this using the latest version of Acrobat on my home computer and see if this happens with that version too.
Thanks.
