Feature Request: Option to change scrollbar position or keep it hidden (Prevent accidental page jumps).
Previously, the app’s scrollbar remained hidden while reading and scrolling through a PDF. It only appeared when tapping the screen to reveal the toolbars—this clean, uninterrupted experience is actually what made me switch to Acrobat in the first place.
However, in the current version, the scrollbar appears every time you swipe. This is a major usability issue for those of us who hold the device and scroll with our right thumb. Often, my thumb accidentally grabs the scrollbar instead of the page, causing a massive, involuntary page jump. I end up flying back to the first pages and completely losing my current reading position.
Proposed solutions:
Revert to the previous behavior (keep the scrollbar hidden while actively scrolling).
(Preferred) Add a UI setting that allows users to customize the scrollbar placement, choosing whether it appears on the left or right edge of the screen. This would easily solve the issue and accommodate all users, regardless of how they hold their device.
Why is this feature necessary?
*Prevents accidental page jumps and user frustration:
When scrolling through documents on mobile devices, the scrollbar acts as an active touch target. For users who scroll with their left thumb, the scrollbar directly overlaps with the natural touch interaction area. Hiding the scrollbar automatically while scrolling or moving it away prevents unintended touch triggers, saving users from losing their reading position and reducing friction.
*Accommodates different hand grips and accessibility needs:
Users hold their devices in various ways depending on hand dominance (left-handed vs. right-handed), device size, and personal comfort. Allowing users to choose which side of the screen the scrollbar appears on caters to a wider audience, making the app significantly more inclusive and comfortable for everyone.
*Grants user control over the interface:
Providing customization for core UI elements empowers users to tailor the reading environment to their preferences. A flexible interface directly enhances user satisfaction, increases reading comfort, and restores the seamless experience that originally set Acrobat apart from competitors for myself.
