Sorry but Ravi Gupta's comment doesn't solve it. Selection of individual characters in Acrobat DC is just too haphazard and imprecise for it to be suitable as an editing tool for professional editors. As a consequence editing on screen in Acrobat is much slower than traditional editing on paper.
