PDF READER IS SLOW AND SLOPPY
I use this App for reading and combining drawing. The reader regeneration is slow. My combined files range from 10MB -20MB. I use Books App. from Apple, and it opens the files with ease, and pan with regen, flawlessly.

I can relate to the frustration of dealing with slow PDF readers, especially when working with larger files. If the Apple Books app is handling your files smoothly, it might be a good idea to stick with it for now.
