What foundation is best for a garden shed?
Hi everyone! Need advice on a foundation for a shed. We bought a ready-made 10x12 prefab shed, now we are choosing what is better: a concrete slab or a gravel pad? The site is slightly sloping, and after rain there is a lot of water. We want it to be reliable and not leak under the building. Concrete is, of course, stronger, but it is expensive and takes a long time. And with gravel, it is not entirely clear how it will behave over time. Those who have made such foundations for themselves - share your experience. What is easier to install, like drainage, and is it worth overpaying for concrete? Thanks in advance for any advice!

I see that both options — concrete and gravel — have their advantages. It all depends on the site and budget. It’s good when there are companies that help with preparation — you don’t want to do everything yourself. I think it’s also worth consulting with specialists before making decision.

Hi! I also doubted what to choose, but then I turned to specialists. They installed a gravel pad under the shed for me, since the site is not perfectly flat and there are rains. It turned out to be cheaper than concrete, and there are no problems with drainage. Gravel is quickly laid and does not allow water to accumulate under the building. By the way, I ordered everything through https://www.siteprep.com/ — they have a great selection of services, they do both gravel and concrete foundations, and they also do drainage, demolition of old buildings and even lawns. It’s very convenient when everything is in one place. So I recommend checking them out.
