You can contact me, if you have any question to this.
Case 1:
Open a Word Doc which is on your desktop and make same changes. Klick the “save symbol” (Disk) Document is saved on the path where you opened it (desktop)
No window with “save under” came up
In office there is a difference between save under (window comes up to edit the path) and the button save (disk symbol)
Clicking “save” is saving and you can close it and all the changes are saved
Open a PDF with adobe; insert some changes and click on the symbol for “save” (NOT save as) Window which asks about where to save (path) comes up
This is not the same the office products are doing.
Question to adobe:
1. Why is the symbol for “save” coming up with the path window?
2. Even if you go the way with Edit>Save the window comes up
I would expect that when clicking “save” adobe knows the name where I opened the file (location within windows)
3. Why is there a difference between office and adobe symbols / ways
Case 2:
We are using FileNet as a ECM System and our users can open a Word doc within filenet, they check it out for editing, office product is loading, they make their changes and they can just press “save” and the file is being uploaded to filenet again with a new version. When trying this with adobe we have the problem that a) the problem of case 1: when clicking “save” a window is coming up which wants to have a path b) when this window comes up, it’s not the path where the temp-pdf file is stored (C:\Users#username#\AppData\Local\Temp) – instead it always points to the path C:\Users\username\Documents or the desktop
Question:
1. Why is adobe not taking the initial path where the document is stored; see case 2 (even when it’s a temp-file) Office products are able to do that
Case Request: We need the behavior, that we can open a pdf file from filenet via desktop app / adobe reader. Edit it by adding a digital signature and save it. Then it should be saved directly to filenet without coming up with the save as dialog.
We need that with sandbox mode activated.
Maybe you can trust the application FileNet to make that possible?
