Allow user to open documents in read mode by default
Allow users to tick a box in preference so that it becomes possible to open all pdf documents in read mode by default, and revert back to a more complete mode only when needed.

Adobe Acrobat Reader 2025 is nearly 300 MB install. I am not sure why they require such a bloated software for just a reader. Also 90% of the use case of Acrobat Reader is to just peacefully read a PDF document. If they applied any design thinking, the Reader mode should have the default mode.
But they don't listen. I had abandoned the use of Acrobat Reader 10 years back and had started using SumatraPDF an open source reader (https://sumatrapdfreader.org/) but, unfortunately my employer stopped allowing that software. That was only 6 MB install and even if we open 50 documents, it would use the minimum amount of memory.
I feel so sad losing access to that software on my office laptop. -

Didn't we used to have something like this?..
Prepping to review a bunch of documents with guests on a big screen in a conference room, really wish I could set up to open each without clutter. Would be interested in a workaround, if anybody's got one.
Adobe, let's make this happen.

In fact, I press CTRL+H every time I open a pdf document. This requires me to go from mouse to keyboard and then from keyboard to mouse each time. It's a real pain!

The reader is supposed to be...a reader..having all of the toolbars clutter the screen when you only want to view a pdf is making me want to use a different pdf reader there is so much clutter, and having to remember to CTRL+H every time you load a document is really annoying.

It is possible to enable/disable Read Mode by pressing CTRL+H. I agree that an option should be added to have Read Mode enabled by default.
