Bug: radio button and checkbox styles set in InDesign not working in Acrobat
Since a recent Adobe Acrobat DC update, button styles set in InDesign are no longer working. They still work when the pdf is opened in a browser.
Steps to reproduce the issue: Create a radio button or checkbox in InDesign. Customise the style appearance for the on/off settings (colour, shape, text, removing default checks and dots, etc.). Export to Interactive pdf. Open in Acrobat. Button off styles have now reverted to default style settings. When you click on a button, it briefly shows the correct on style, but once you click off it reverts to the default style again.
Environment: InDesign CC 16.3. Adobe Acrobat DC 21.0. Windows 64-bit.
Expected result: button styles set in InDesign remain activated in Acrobat.
Observed result: styles revert to default settings in Acrobat.

Improving Adobe Reader starts with focusing on usability and performance. A lighter interface with fewer background processes would help it feel faster, especially on older systems. Smarter annotation tools, better cloud sync stability, and more intuitive navigation for long documents would also make a big difference for everyday users. Security updates are essential, but clearer explanations of what’s changing would build more trust. Interestingly, the same user first thinking applies in other digital spaces too. In online retail, for example, platforms like https://apricocia.com/ put a lot of emphasis on clean design and smooth browsing, which shows how thoughtful optimization really improves the overall experience.
