Compatibility bug in mailto protocol between new outlook and acrobat
Reporting this issue following Microsoft's recommendation.
Within Adobe Acrobat Reader, when using the "Submit" button on a XFA PDF that was created using LiveCycle, it successfully uses the mailto protocol and successfully drafts the expected email when working with the Classic Microsoft Outlook version (updated in October 2024). However, after turning on the "new" outlook version (Oct 2024), Acrobat would never draft the email in the new Outlook, it will keep looking for the classic version instead, forcing users to have both versions in parallel.
Our company reported this case to Microsoft (Issues with Outlook New Version - TrackingID#2410070030008449) but their answer was that it was an Adobe issue:
"We don’t have an official communication since we can not talk for them. This is something they need to investigate and address.
For instance, many apps can work or interact with Microsoft products, Outlook plug-ins from vendors interacting with Outlook, they are responsible to keep updating their apps to work with Outlook."
In a few weeks/months when everybody gets on the "New Outlook", this will definitely be a major issue for our SOX compliance program since it would break our current process.
Thanks.
