Custom Keyboard Shortcuts for Commenting Tools and More
I would like to be able to set different keyboard shortcuts for the commenting tools such as highlighting, underline, replace text, insert text, add text comment.
There's two main reasons why it would be much better to have custom shortcuts instead of the default accelerator keys:
- Currently the accelerator key to highlight is "U" and to use the underline and strike through tools you have to cycle through the tools by pressing Shift+U multiple times. This is very cumbersome. It would be easier and faster to set different shortcuts for each tool.
Also, there are no accelerator keys for the other tools like the replace text or insert text tools.
- When I use acrobat to read and comment PDFs, I have my left hand on my keyboard and my right hand on my mouse. So shortcuts that use the right hand like "U" are very inconvenient. It would prefer to be able to set "D" to highlight, "E" to underline, "R" to replace text, and "A" to add text like I am able to in Foxit PDF reader.
The custom keyboard shortcuts feature could be applied to many other things depending on what the user uses Acrobat for. This would help to speed up the workflow in Acrobat.

I really wish they would add this feature. It has been requested a few times since at least 2017, but they do not feel it's a popular enough request. You mentioned Foxit PDF Reader already; custom shortcuts are available in PDF-Xchange Editor, too. This should be standard.
