BUG: New Install of Reader adds COM Add-In to Office, causes Error Message in Word
Recent installs of Acrobat Reader adds a PDF Maker COM Add-in to Microsoft Office causing Error Messages if Macros are not enabled.
In corporate environments, Macros are not installed / enabled in Microsoft Office by default so as to avoid viruses and malware.
Recent installations of Acrobat Reader installs a PDFMaker Add-In in Microsoft Office. This causes Macro error messages to appear in Word since Macros are not installed or are disabled. It affects numerous users when creating any new or opening existing documents.
Eventually traced the issue to the PDFMaker COM Add-In in Microsoft Word which is installed by current versions of Acrobat Reader.
The PDFMaker COM Add-In did NOT install in prior versions of Acrobat Reader.
Workaround is to manually disable the COM Add-In or to delete physical file.
There is no way to uninstall the COM Add-In itself.
