I just installed Acrobat Pro DC (2/24/2023) and I cannot find the Hand tool anywhere. Nor can I find the Select tool. What is the fix for this?

This did not fix the issue.  Fresh 64-bit installation updated to 22.2.20212 and it still defaults to the selection tool instead of the hand tool.

This issue is fixed with the new release 22.2.20212, now available. Please update the application from the help menu > check for updates and reboot the computer once.

Unable to select the hand tool as default after recent automatic update this week. Registry edits and full reinstall of Adobe Acrobat DC Pro did not resolve the issue. Please fix your software, Adobe.

Still broken, Acrobat Pro DC 2022.002.20191. even registry gets wiped back to Select when adobe is launched.

i will also add that it also doesnt stay selected between multiple open PDFs in tab format. you need to set each files hand tool individually.

Here's an update. I contacted Adobe support (via chat), and this worked for me and happy to have the Hand tool as default now:

• Open the Registry Editor -->
regedit.exe
• Browse to the relevant key -->
Computer\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Adobe\Acrobat Reader\[version]\Selection
• Edit the appropriate value -->
Change the data of aDefaultSelect to Hand.

I have the same problem. I'm using version 2022.001.20169 It seems as though maybe Adobe broke this and doesn't care to fix it, or someone changed it to this and thinks that ALL users would be happy with it. It's TERRIBLY irritating.

Also, the above post is from January 13th and still no response from Adobe? What the heck man!

Somewhere in the latest releases within past 1-2 months, my Acrobat Pro DC lost abiltiy to select Hand tool (Pan tool) as default. My current version is 2021.011.20039.

It used to remember when I close and open document which tool is selected. Now it always defaults to Selection Tool no matter how many times or which way (i.e. right click -> Pan tool) I choose the Hand tool. I want the Hand tool to be the default.

It also switches back to Selection tool if I enter the "edit text and images" mode and then exit the mode (not closing the document).

I want to make hand tool the default whenever I open a document.
