Fix read mode to NOT go to full screen mode to have only the document content visible in a window. You should have separate full screen mode

I need to read a PDF while using others apps at the SAME TIME; Reading the documentation of the other program from a PDF file.

I don't need toolbars. I dont' need status bars. I don't need menu bars.

I can press ctrl-f If I want to search for something, I can press ctrl-p if I want to print the document. I don't need a buttons or search bars for those to be constantly visible.

If I need to use ANY other functionality, I can right-click and all that functionality could be put into that right-click menu.

I ONLY WANT TO SEE THE CONTENT OF THE PDF!

So, you already have a "read mode". But you have failed it miserably; This read mode makes the acrobat reader go full screen, which is totally unusable; I need to be able to multitask, I need to see the documentation which is inside the PDF and to be able to use my other programs AT THE SAME TIME.

This is probably one of the most common use cases for PDF viewer and you fail it miserably. Full screen "read mode" hides my other program. and on windowed mode acrobat reader wastes one third of my window space for unnecessary UI bloat.

    The solution is as homie desktop described. This is totally unintuitive but at least it restores Ctrl+H to working as it should. I did it by going to "Edit" > "Preferences" > "General" tab > clicking on the "Touch Mode" drop-down menu, selecting "Never", and having exited out by hitting "OK" then restarting Adobe... and that did the trick

    I know this discussion has been years, but I had the same issue and after reading different discussions and adobe-related forums, I haven't found any answer, but I've figured out a solution that worked at least for me.

    Go to "Edit" > "Preferences" > "General" tab > click on the "Touch Mode" drop-down menu and select "Auto-Detect" as well as with "Scale for screen resolution (restart required)" option.

    Click "OK" and restart (close and open) Adobe reader.

    Now try the read-mode "Ctrl+H" and it should work as it's supposed to instead of being full-screen.

    i have this problme aswall,
    i used to "ctrl+H" to go on read mode wile readinf 2 documants side by side,
    now with "ctrl+H" it throws me to a full screen view that i didnt asked for

    how to fix that problrm?

    I do NOT want full screen for PDFs. I do not want sidebar EVER. Please fix now. This is a disgusting thing to deal with.

    Its still bugged but i found a workaround. Press F8 and it will hide practically all toolbars. If you want to even hide the top menu bar, press F9. If you want them back just hit the same keys.

    I hve the same problem - no solutions that work found - I am stunned that ADOBE havent fixed this - renders it useless for use with streaming softwarde like OBS

    Also, it seems that the "full screen/ctrl-L" menu option is grayed out. (because the "read mode" (ctrl-h) already does this, even though it's not supposed to do this)

    Also, exiting the buggy full screen read mode seems to leave the window maximized. This looks like another bug.

    Ir, is it the same bug? Is there a bug that just causes the read mode to change the window size to have the size of the whole screen which makes it look like full screen mode?

    So, it seems that the "read mode" is supposed to do what I want, but it's broken, and trying to go into this "read mode" makes the reader go to the full screen mode instead.

    I'm using Acrobar Reader DC 2020.009.20063
