    Hi all,

Thank you for those who provided the screenshots of the error message.

One of the possible causes of the error is that your Document Cloud storage is full.

Document Cloud includes 2GB of free storage or 100GB of storage with Acrobat DC subscription.

    https://helpx.adobe.com/document-cloud/help/file-size-limitations.html

Is it possible that you hit the storage limit?

To check your current storage usage

    1. Go to https://assets.adobe.com in a web browser.
    2. Sign in with your Adobe ID that you use for Acrobat Reader.
    3. Look at the bottom-left corner for the storage usage.

See the attached screenshot: Cloud Storage.png

If it is nearly full, would you please try deleting old/unneeded large files from Acrobat Reader on iPhone/iPad? Does saving a document to Document Cloud finish successfully after that?

Please let us know what you find.

    Thank you for your help.

    Hi,

Sorry for the problem that you've encountered.

We are having a hard time reproducing the problem.

Would you please try signing out from Document Cloud and signing in again?

Please let us know if it helps (or not).

    Thank you.

    Hi Anthony,

Once you tap the "Save to Document Cloud" menu item, the document will be saved to Document Cloud.

The "Save to Document Cloud" menu item will no longer be available. If you make any changes (e.g. adding comments, filling out form fields, etc.), you can close the document to trigger save.

Please make sure that you are signed in, tap "Files" in the bottom bar, then tap Locations > "Document Cloud" to open the same document again.

If you see an error message, it would be great if you can attach a screenshot in your next post.

    Thank you.

    Hi,

    Sorry for the inconvenience caused.

Where is your PDF document stored? Is it a local file stored on your iPad or Phone or stored in cloud (e.g. Adobe Document Cloud, Google Drive, iCloud Drive, etc.)?

Does the problem happen to the particular PDF document only or all of the PDF documents that you have?

    Do you an error message?

If your PDF documents are stored in Adobe Document Cloud, would you please try the following steps to see if it fixes the problem?

    1. Tap “Home” in the bottom tab bar to go to the Acrobat Home screen.
    2. Tap the Profile icon (the second from the right) in the top bar.
    3. Tap “Sign Out” in the Settings screen.
    4. Tap “Sign In” to sign in again.

    Thank you for your help.

    Hi,

First, please make sure to update to the latest version of Acrobat Reader via the App Store.

Is it possible that you are looking at the Home > Recent browser? Please note that it shows recently opened files, not folders.

    (a) Go to Files > Locations > Document Cloud

    1. Tap "Files" in the bottom tab bar.
    2. Tap "Document Cloud".

The screenshot attached to this thread: Files Locations.png

Do you see folders in the Document Cloud file browser?

If you still do not find folders in the Document Cloud file browser, please try:

    (b) Sign out & in from Settings

    1. Tap "Home" in the bottom tab bar.
    2. Tap the Profile icon (the second from the right) in the top bar.
    3. Tap "Sign Out".
    4. Tap "Sign In" to sign in again.
    5. Follow the steps in the section (a) above to navigate to the Document Cloud file browser.

The screenshot attached to this thread: Sign Out.png

Please let us know whether (a) or (b) works for you.

    Thank you.

    Hi,

Acrobat Reader for iPhone and iPad is not intended to be used as a word processor.

A better approach is to use Microsoft Word, Apple Pages, or other word processor app and export the original document to PDF for viewing.

    Hope this helps.

    Hi,

Acrobat Reader for iPhone and iPad does not support OCR.

Instead, you can use the Adobe Scan app that is separately available from the App Store.

    https://www.adobe.com/devnet-docs/adobescan/ios/en/scan.html

    Hope this helps.

    Hi all,

Would you please try the following steps to see if the problem is fixed?

    1. Update to the latest version (19.05.00) of Acrobat Reader.
    2. Tap Home in the bottom tab bar.

    5. Tap "Sign Out".
    6. Tap "Sign In" to sign in again.

You may need to delete old conflict files to clean up. However, Acrobat Reader should no longer create new conflict files.

Please let us know if the problem still persists.

    Hi James,

If you use "Open in" from GoodReader (or any other iOS app), the PDF document will be opened in Acrobat Reader without making a local copy.

For example, please try the following steps.

    1. In the source app, open a PDF document.
    2. Select "Open in" to open the PDF document in Acrobat Reader.
    3. Make changes to the PDF document (e.g. adding Highlight annotations) to the PDF document in Acrobat Reader.
    4. Close the PDF document. Acrobat Reader saves pending changes to the PDF document.
    5. Go back to the source app (in your case, GoodReader).
    6. Open the PDF document in the source app.

You should see the changes that you've made in Acrobat Reader.

"I cannot change any file attributes (rename, duplicate, delete) within Acrobat on ios."

It sounds like you are looking at the PDF document in Acrobat Reader's Home > Recent file browser, which shows recently opened documents. But if you tap "Files" in the bottom bar and go to Locations > On This iPad/iPhone, you can see that there is no permanent copy of the PDF document created within Acrobat Reader.

To perform any file operations (e.g. rename, duplicate, delete), please go back to the source app (in your case, GoodReader) that the original PDF document belongs.

Because Acrobat Reader doesn't "own" PDF documents that are stored in other apps, it cannot rename, duplicate, or delete those PDF documents.

Please let us know if you have additional questions.

    Thank you.

    Hi,

Thank you for reporting the problem.

Would you please check the version of Acrobat Reader?

    1. Launch the App Store app on your iPhone/iPad.
    2. Find Adobe Acrobat Reader in the App Store.

Do you see "Open" or "Update"?

"Open" - You have the latest version of Acrobat Reader.
"Update" - You have an older version of Acrobat Reader. Please update to the latest.

Does the problem happen to all of the PDF documents that you are trying to open? Where are the documents stored? Are they stored locally on your iPad/iPhone or cloud storage (Document Cloud, Dropbox, Google Drive, etc.)?

Does Acrobat crash? Does it show an error message?

    Thank you for your help.

    Hi Alexey,

Thank you for the sample PDF document and screenshots.

We were able to reproduce the problem. However, the problem (with the little empty squares) seems to occur only with Apple apps with their PDF preview capability.

    * Apple Preview (desktop app & iOS app)
    * iOS Files app
    * iOS Books app

Acrobat Reader desktop & iOS app and other third-party apps (e.g. PDF Expert, Dropbox or Box preview) do not exhibit the problem.

We suspect that Apple Preview and its client apps are not compatible with the way Acrobat Reader saves the positions of highlight annotations to PDF.

We will continue investigating the cause of the problem using other PDF viewers and let you know what we find.

    Thank you for your patience.
