  1. More Options for Accessibility Tables

Create 508 compliant PDF documents frequently that need to be passed. These documents more than not have several lengthy tables. These documents also come from different people using different software and versions. And more than not these tables need to be rebuilt. Would love to have the option to create tables in the Tags sidebar from scratch where you can at the same time specify how many TR, TH, and TD and in a certain order. Right now I can only add them one at a time. Also, if there is a way to remove the hard setup of tables.…

  2. Remove Document Preparation Dialogue

Why would I need a dialogue box to tell me it's preparing and ready?? JUST DO IT! I don't need 15 dialogue boxes for each document open telling me about it. It's a background task; it should be in the background. This is so painfully obvious I can't understand why this dialogue box exists or why it doesn't disappear when ready instead of forcing itself on top and in the way.

  4. Bug: General preferences > Use Single Key Accelerators To Access Tools: doesn't work

Both, Acrobat DC and Reader DC ignore the "General preferences > Use Single Key Accelerators To Access Tools" settings.

Although I checked this option, whenever I open a PDF document, acceleration keys (e.g. "H" or "D" for changing the selection mode) don't work.

Deselecting and selecting this option in General Preferences temporarily enables this feature, but both programs "forget" this setting the next time one of them is getting launched.

    HI David,
We tried on our side on the latest build. It is fixed on our side. Please update on the latest build.
Although the issue faced by you may be because you have not turned off Protected View, Please turn it off and you won’t be facing the issue anymore.

    Thanks
    Rachir

  5. Reading order list

It would be a HUGE improvement for the work I do if the reading order also could be changed by typing the order numbers in the order list. The reading order list can be very long sometimes, with endless, tedious drag and drops on each page as it is now.
It is also annoying that the list jumps back to the top each time you re-order the list.

  6. Accessibility Table Tags, Table Summary, H1-3 are not being read by screen readers NVDA and JAWS

We received this document from a vendor and it wasn't tagged for accessibility. I went through page by page, adding figure alternative text, table summaries, and tagged H1 through H3 headings. Then using Adobe's book mark tool I auto-generated the bookmarks based on the H1-3 heading tags.

I sent this document to our 508C consultant who is blind. He used NVDA and JAWS to read the document. He found all of the alt text for figures but could not see the H1-3 tags nor could he see any of the tables or table summaries.

I double checked the document using…

  7. Multiple Undo in Order and Content panels

2 years ago, Adobe programmed that the Tags panel would have Undo. That was very helpful.

But we also need to Undo in the Order and Contents panels, too.

When remediating PDFs to meet accessibility guidelines and laws, people work in the Order and Content panels, too, not just in the Tags panel. As in any workflow, we sometimes need to undo what we just did.

Right now, we must revert to the previously saved version which might go back too far and not be helpful at all.

  8. Reading experience dyslexics

Hi! I have ADHD and dyslexia. I think it's kind of vital to improve the reading experience at the Acrobat reader. Microsoft has done a good job with the Edge epub reading features, would be nice to have some of these features to improve reading acessibility.

  9. Text-to-speek SELECTED text only

I don't know how Acrobat has not allowed for a Text-To-Speech option of SELECTED text only yet. It's an amazing tool for people with disabilities... especially those who need text read to them.

It is extremely frustrating having to listen to the text of a document from the begining if you only need the last paragraph read allowed. Extremely disappointed Adobe hasn't stepped up their game.

  10. Accessibility check rejects manual line breaks from InDesign

when a file is exported to Acrobat from InDesign, the accessibility checker rejects every manual line break in the document. There is no fix offered in Acrobat. Please fix.

  11. PDF Initial View Magnification Guidelines

Why doesn't Adobe set the default initial view magnification setting to "fit page" so a viewer can see an entire document upon initial view? As a seasoned graphic designer, I believe it is much more courteous to allow the viewer to orient themselves to an entire document and then allow then to zoom in for more detail. It is disconcerting to see a partial document when opening a PDF file. Adobe is a leader in accessibility standards and I wondered if you had insight into this topic, I don't see a recommended initial view magnification in the WCAG 2.0 AA…

  12. Accessibility of hyperlinks breaks when adding a page and cannot be fixed

I use Word 365 of a main docment to generate a PDF, and remediate in Acrobat DC. I have to add in pages in the fron an back of the document that comprises the front and back covers (also from Word). (The cover PDFs also pass accessibility check).

However, when I drag one page into the Main document PDF and run the accessiblity checker, all the hyperlinks that tested OK in the main document now generate a 'tagged annotations' error.

Normally, remediating such errors is easy: you show in the content panel, find the unmarked links/annotations and tag them appropriately.

  13. Accessibility - Table Cell Splitting/size bug

In making large, complex tables accessible, I have repeatedly come across multiple cells that I have drawn with the cell button on the reading order panel, that either include more than one cell, or create one cell that is so large that I cannot select any cells beneath it.

  14. Accessibility Enhancement

List labels are rarely get tagged which make the tagging extremely tedious. Tables, underlines, links always leave pathing tags which need to be manually removed from the content, again making the process of creating accessible files extremely tedious. There has got to be a better way.

  15. Bulk autotag documents

Add droplet or "multiple file" option for bulk autotagging to speed the conversion of scanned (as image) PDFs to accessible PDFs.

  16. Streamline accessibility process from Word, PLEASE

If a document passes MS Word accessibility standards, throwing errors as a pdf is time-consuming and just plain wrong. I'm trying to teach faculty and staff at a college how to do this and it is SO cumbersome! Just for a simple, one-page doc, passed all chekcs in word, still getting 2 errors as pdf and I cannot even FIND the tags panel in spite of multiple searches. Arrgghhh! Frustrating and disapointing for those of us trying to make all learning materials accessible for all students, including those who are blind, vision impaired or using screen readers!

  17. BUG: 2D graphics accelerator not working properly on high contrast mode (GTX 1080)

When in accesibility/high contrast mode, white horizontal lines will appear over the black background at random segments of the document as you scroll up/down. Deactivating 2D graphics accelerator solved the issue for me. I have a GTX 1080 Max-Q.

  19. Keyboard functions in the Tags Panel

I am using Keyboard only to access the Tags Panel.

Switching between the Advanced Search menu, and the main document Window, using F6 to move Focus to the Tags panel and Find Tag from Selection work great. I perform subsequent actions and my first search/action is done.

Then I Alt tab back to the Advanced Search panel, move up to the next item, Alt tab back to the main document Window, F6 to the Tags Panel, the item I searched for is selected, but the previous Tag (from search # 1) still has dotted lines around it and it has…
