1. Adobe Reader in Preview Pane appears cut off when DPI scaling changes or when moved between monitors with different DPI scaling

   When viewing a file with Adobe Reader in the File Explorer preview pane, the file gets cut off if the DPI scaling level changes or if the File Explorer window is dragged between monitors with different DPI scaling levels. This is very annoying as it can make documents chopped off and/or hard to read. It seems to be an issue with Adobe Reader previewer not correctly/responding to scaling changes. As you can see in the image, the previewer is so cut off that you can't even see the controls or the scroll bar.

2. Fix Issue: Adobe Reader DLL Crash

   We have a web based application running on our Citrix environment. We are running Windows Server 2016 (1607) and Citrix VAD 1912 LTSR CU1. The users login to the web based application and eventually it will trigger the opening of a PDF within Internet Explorer. This process will work most the time but we find after the user does anywhere from 7-10 instances of the process Internet Explorer will crash.

   We first monitored performance on our server but identified there are no CPU/RAM bottlenecks. We even isolated users to one server to test and they still have the issue. We recently enable Crash Dumps for Internet Explorer so we can further determine the issue. I've reviewed the crash dump along with Microsoft and we've found the crash is due to AcroRd32.dll. We were running an older verison of Adobe Reader so I've updated to 2020.012.20041 and we have the same issue. Is there anyone on the Adobe side who can review the Crash Dump I have to provide insight as to what could be causing it? We've tried with Protected mode disabled and the issue continues.

4. Removing quick actions from the Explorer context menu

   Please add to the app settings the option to add and remove quick actions from the context menu in File Explorer in Windows 10 for PDFs. Since doing it manually through the Registry Editor is very inconvenient.

5. I am currently paying $16.23 a month and have no access to adobe acrobat pro

   Every time I try to log into adobe pro it keeps telling me that my trial period is over and that I need to install it. Please advise on how to fix this issue asap.

6. Find option is getting cleared

   Press Ctrl+F
   Try to find any thing by typing in Find input box
   then click/Select any letter in Find Input box and try to type
   Previous data is getting cleared (very irritating as we have to type again whole thing)

7. Drag and drop files

   It's incredibly frustrating that a) the Adobe Document Cloud is so slow, and b) one cannot drag and drop files to folders. Organizing my PDFs has literally taken the whole day.

8. Colour-coding in the comments panel

   Acrobat Reader allows to highlight text and then enter comments to the highlighted text into the separate panel on the right of the text. I use this feature a lot, when reviewing papers. It would be very handy for me if the comments in the right panel were somehow marked with the same colour as the highlighting in the text. Such feature would allow me easily navigate between the comments later, when making a summary: e.g. first selecting green comments, then red comments etc.

9. Ctrl home displays hidden side bar & bookmark bar - MOST ANNOYING

   It is already extremely annoying to hide elements in Acrobat.

   For reasons only known to your idiot design team, you persist in the view that the UI MUST BE RESET ON EVERY DOCUMENT LOAD.

   I read > 30 PDFs in a DAY. FOR EVERY ONE, I have to hide elements of the UI (typically the left side). EVERY F*** PDF.

   Today I find that hitting Ctrl-Home re-displays the full left bar.
   WHY.
   WHO THINKS THIS IS A GREAT IDEA - Lets re-purpose a standard document navigation key into a UI state change.
   PG UP to the top page does the same.
   So it seems that the UI Gurus at Adobe though that when I go to document top, I wanted my UI settings overridden.

   STOP DOING THIS.

   Allow the user to setup their work environment AS THEY SEE FIT.
   DO NOT OVERRIDE THE USER's settings.
   DO NOT DISPLAY USER HIDDEN DISPLAY OPTIONS.
   RESPECT STANDARD KEY SEQUENCES in the OS environments and DO NOT OVERRIDE OR OVERLOAD the operators.

   Get a new set of UI designers.

10. RichMedia mp4 playback with Flash disabled not working

    "Playback of non-Flash media (excluding *.flv and *.swf) content in PDFs will continue to be supported."

    I tested the sample-formatter-richmedia.pdf file in Acrobat Reader "Continuous Release 2020.009.20074" with Flash disabled and the video was not playable.

11. Bug - touchscreen highlighting while viewing multiple pages

    Hello, I have found a bug. When in the following configuration:

    • Read Mode OR Fixed-width scrolling
    • Viewing two pages at once (i.e. bottom of one page and top of the next page are both visible on screen)
    • Using the touchscreen of my 2-in-1 (HP Elitebook G4 if that's relevant) to highlight text

    I am able to tap once to select a word on either page, but one one of the two pages, I am not able to alter that selection (i.e. grab the little handles at either end of the selection and expand it to include more text). Instead, it treats the gesture as if I am using the pan tool, and attempts to scroll left/right (and if I drag up/down on the handles the page scrolls without changing the selected text).

    Upon some experimentation I found that:

    • I have no problems using the touchscreen to select text when viewing a single page (in any view mode). I assume Reader is somehow detecting the "active" page, maybe the one most visible on the screen or something, and treating touchscreen gestures on the two pages differently.
    • When I use the trackpad/cursor to select text (in read mode or fixed-width scrolling), there is no problem and I am able to adjust the selection. It's only using the touchscreen.
    • If the word I initially select is on the "active" page I am able to drag the selection handle to select text over both pages, but not when the initial selected word is on the "inactive" page.

    A relatively uncommon scenario for most users I think, but it's juuust disruptive and irritating enough to prompt me to post about it here (and yes, I'm aware I've spent longer typing this bug report than the cumulative time the bug will take from me! Please fix so that the time can at least be a martyr for all touchscreen users time!) :)

13. Enable adding "Open...[file]" as icon/command to Quick Tools toolbar

    Allow/enable Adobe Acrobat Reader DC to add the "Open...[file]" command to the Quick Tools toolbar.
    
    I am using the most recent version of Adobe Acrobat Reader DC as of today 12/1/2020: 2020.013.20064.12623.
    When you are constantly opening files, it becomes very tedious to constantly be required to click on the File menu and then select Open... to open files. An Open... command icon is a standard quick command on most other software I have seen. I am surprised and disappointed that no one thought of this or made this a standard command icon on this toolbar. In fact, there are several commands that I cannot even remove from this toolbar that I never use. So, actually, that is another suggestion: don't automatically add ANY command icons to the Quick Tools toolbar that cannot be removed. Every user is different and it would be nice to be able to truly customize this toolbar as needed.

    The arrow ignores the pre set color and is always placed red. You have to place an arrow and go into settings every time to change the color from red to f.e. black.

15. Create a robust student/worksheet mode for surfaceable/easy-to-use student tools with zero data loss

    In this era of online/distance learning, never has it been so clear that Adobe Acrobat Reader is sorely inadequate for everyday use for students. The PDF format has long been used by teachers for worksheets, but ironically only to print them out. Now that everything is digital, most routine worksheets in PDF format are not easily editable or annotatable for students to fill them out and return them! This is the moment the PDF format has been waiting for its whole existence, and it is coming up short. In practice, even when PDFs set up as fillable forms, they are oftentimes are returned to senders with the filled-in data missing. The PDF format is not adequate for today's online learning workflows. The free version of Adobe Acrobat Reader needs immediate improvements for use in digital/online school settings.

    1. Annotation and typing tools that are easy for students as young as age 6 to surface and use.

    2. Automatic identification of form fields in bitmap/image-based PDFs (by far the weakest area in the PDF format) and conversion of blanks/boxes/fields into typeable areas (cf. Preview on macOS).

    3. A robust technical solution to prevent data from being lost when PDF forms are returned.

    4. Robust cross-platform compatibility: perfect interoperability among Windows 10, macOS, iOS, Android, Linux, and online platforms like Office.com and iCloud.com among others, and pen/ink support on all platforms.

    5. Easier-to-use security and privacy settings that kids as young as 6 can use so schools can ensure FERPA and HIPA compliance.

    6. Effortless integratability into school workflows using platforms/apps such as Schoology, SeeSaw, Google Classroom, Apple Classroom, Microsoft Office 365 (especially OneNote).

    7. Improved licensing to make it possible for commonly used apps like Apple Notes, Microsoft Office OneNote, Google Notes/Keep, etc., can integrate PDFs and mark them up – with markup retained when shifted to a different platform.

    8. Easy integration of these PDF tools into OneDrive, Google Drive, and iCloud.

16. Connect Google Drive: "Shared With Me"

    As of this post, Adobe Reader allows for the option to connect your Google Drive account to it, to view pdfs from the "My Drive" folder (on Google Drive) on the Reader.

    Description of desired feature:
    I would like the option to view pdfs in folders that are in the "Shared with Me" folder of Google Drive along with the ones in "My Drive"

    Why this feature is needed:
    Increases the utility of the Adobe Reader on Google Drive.

18. Option to save changes to all open documents instead of individual prompt for each

    If I make changes to several open PDF documents, it would be better to have an option to Save All changes other than get a prompt for every PDF document.

19. Acrobat Reader unable to access files via junction reparse points

    Acrobat Reader is unable to correctly interpret some mountpoint reparse points (junctions). In practical terms: Acrobat Reader is unable to access PDF files from file systems mounted as directories and this is the root cause of the problem.

    Junctions are special symbolic links that are used in many scenarios; an important one is when a file system is mounted as a directory rather than a regular drive. Junctions contain 2 paths: a “substitute” path which must be a path in the NTOS namespace (not a Win32 path) and a “print” path, which is to be used for display to the user.

    A junction that is used to mount a file system on a directory might have a target like \Device\Volume{GUID}, which might be a file system device. Unfortunately targets such as \Device\Volume{GUID} appear to create problems for Acrobat Reader because it interprets them as the Win32 path C:\Device\Volume{GUID}, which is incorrect.

20. Prompt Automatic updates

    Hello there,
    Can you add a prompt for updates?
    "Adobe Acrobat requires an update that will require a restart before using the application. Update and restart or install later?"

    You see, when Acrobat updates automatically and I'm still running the app, I can still open things, but if Acrobat updates and I'm not currently running the app, then I can't open the app until I restart.
    In terms of workflow this means that to access a PDF needed immediately for work I need to save and close everything, restart, then reopen everything. This took about 7 minutes without including reopening everything (slow computer, lots of things open and in process over several resource intense apps).
    Since I can still use Acrobat if I've already got it open, it obvious that there's some flexibility. If a screen came up asking permission and informing me to restart before I next opened, then the onus would be on me to keep it open and not ***** up my workflow but without that permission you just throw a big wrench into the gears, so to speak.

    As of right now, my only recourse for efficient work going forward is to go into the registry and task scheduler and disable the automatic updates which, I'm sure you'll agree is not what you want.
