Hi,
There is no free version of Acrobat DC. You can use Acrobat DC on trial basis for 7 days only. Post that you have to buy subscription to use Acrobat.
However if you want only to read your PDF file and comment, please user free Adobe Reader instead. -

Hi
Apologies for the trouble you had. it seems that you are using free Adobe Reader instead of fully functional Acrobat DC. Please install Acrobat DC and sign in with your Adobe ID to activate your subscription.

Hi,
Thanks for sharing your concerns with Adobe.
Acrobat do try to validate the license from server, if network is available. Acrobat will still continue to run if the network is not available. The server validation is done in background without interrupting the users workflows. Please let us know if you are facing any issues using Acrobat due to this.

Hi,
Apologies for the trouble you have faced using Acrobat.
Acrobat should not ask to register or sign in if you are already signed into creative cloud App.
Could you please share the screen shot of the login button you are referring to? -
