Product: Adobe Acrobat (64-bit), Windows Version: 26.001.21771 Issue: Mixed letter/legal PDF printing fails when Protected Mode is enabled.
Issue: Mixed letter/legal PDF printing fails when Protected Mode is enabled.
Environment: Multiple Windows 11 Dell workstations in using Canon imageRUNNER printers with Canon Generic Plus UFR II drivers.
Steps to reproduce:
- Open a PDF containing both Letter (8.5x11) and Legal (8.5x14) pages.
- Print from Acrobat with “Choose paper source by PDF page size” enabled.
- Leave “Enable Protected Mode at startup” enabled.
- Mixed-size printing receives a generic error message and does not print.
- Disable Protected Mode, restart Acrobat, and print the identical document to the identical printer.
- Letter and Legal pages then print correctly from their respective trays.
Regression: This workflow worked before Acrobat 26.001.21771. The issue occurs on every workstation in the office after updating to this build. Our office needs this update however because it fixed the prior update issue of needed to use Task Manager to close the program.
Business impact: This is a title agency. Mixed Letter/Legal closing packages are printed continuously throughout the business day, so disabling Protected Mode is currently required to perform a core business workflow.
Additional issue: Protected Mode re-enables after Windows restart, so the workaround does not persist.
Expected behavior: Mixed Letter/Legal documents should print correctly using “Choose paper source by PDF page size” while Protected Mode remains enabled.
