  2. Adobe Acrobat Pro XI vs. Adobe Acrobat DC

Can we get the Acrobat XI version of the Scanning stuff back? This multiple page setup in order to get to scanning a document is horrendous. When you update things, try to avoid bloating them into more steps, more bells and whistles that are just eye candy and do little to enhance anything....I like when we go update and find out that the newer version has less garbage on it, less junk added to it for overall performance gain instead of the industry standard of new versions = more bloated programming = less productivity and horrible GUI - Why does…

  3. It would be great if Acrobat was multi=threaded. I routinely have to OCR 4000 page documents which almost always fail and take hours

Acrobat needs to be multithreaded. I have a top of the line machine with 32g of ram and an I7-6700k processor an m2 SSD, yet am unable to successfully run OCR on a 4000 page document without splitting it up into 250-500page chunks, which is cumbersome. Even then, acrobat will only use 12% of my resources.

  4. Shortcut for Create PDF from Scan

Create shortcut on Home page to "Create PDF from Scan". A lot of users primarily use Acrobat to create pdfs from paper. It shouldn't take 4 mouse clicks to get this done. Also, there is now no way to use keyboard shortcuts to effect a scan. Alt-F-R-S is as far as one can go because the new blue Scan button does not have a keyboard shortcut.

  5. Please add Bengali language support for OCR

With over 250 million speakers, Bengali is the seventh most spoken native language in the world. Unfortunately there is no Bengali language support for OCR in Adobe Acrobat Pro. It would be extremely helpful for Bengali language community if Bengali is added in OCR. Thank you.

  6. Allow One Button Scanning

Please create a shortcut that would allow the creation of a scanned document. Too many clicks to create pdf from scan. Your attitude seems to be the more clicks the better.

  7. Icelandic OCR

In fact, all languages supported by the open source tesseract project should be available to Adobe customers. Better yet, Adobe licenses OCR from I.R.I.S. S.A. and meanwhile Readiris 17 has support for 130 languages, including Icelandic. Time to update or lose some license restrictions and move open source. What are you paying for, other than sub-par technology? Tesseract is a project supported by Google with an Apache 2.0 license.

Foxit and ABBYY Finereader also have support. Adobe is severely lagging behind here. The tesseract engine is particularly good at character recognition but does not have a very nice interface. There…

  12. Option to eliminate words with mixed number and letters in OCR

Provide a check off that functions to prevent the OCR from mixing numbers and symbols in words.
For example: Custodian should not be read Cu&t0d1an - only letters should be recognized in words.

  13. I used to be able to clean up my scanned documents by clicking the "spots" and deleting. Now I am unable to do this.

I was able to do this in the past. The most recent update must have removed the ability. I would select the "spot" or the edge of the page where the document feeder skewed the page in the scanner, then hit delete. Now I am unable to do this. I want to be able to present clean documents.

If I am not wrong you are using edit functionality of Acrobat. There you can select the edge or small bounding ox and delete it if it is not required.
If not please use Edit tool.

If you are facing any issue on any file please share the files.

    Thanks.

  14. Machine Learning Form Analysis

After OCR recognition provide a facility not just for correcting the text, but for meta-data labeling of fields and regions. This data would make machine-learned document management much more effective.
For example, the automated extraction of data from Insurance company EOBs. You might argue, of course, that this is not in Adobe's balliwick, but I'd argue that this is a natural addition to your commenting tools.

    Thanks for reporting your concern.
For the first question, ability to correct OCRed text. This functionality is already there. Go to Tools> Enhance scan> Recognize text> Correct Recognize text

For the 2nd query I will raise a feature request for you. We will look into this and inform you if there is nay update.

    Thanks.

  15. Unable to change Acrobat DC default settings

Acrobat DC doesn't remember settings of action "Create PDF file from scanner", in Output: i have to manually select "Multiple files" instead of the default "One File",
and when saving files at the end of the scan, i have each time to change the default acrobat directory.

  16. I need to darken the text for a light object, but that is apparently impossible.

Adobe Acrobat used to have a feature to darken text. What happened?

You can change color of text using Edit PDF tool.
If this is something different, can you please elaborate the issue and how you used to do it earlier.

    Thanks.

  17. Please bring back Clearscan

I really need Clearscan back. I don't want editable texts, but I just want characters to be smoothed out. I feel that there should be an option for this. I am Japanese, and usually scan Japanese characters. Editable texts might work for alphabets, but not really for Asian characters. I upgraded from Acrobat XI to Acrobat to Acrobat pro 2017, but scanning experience with this 2017 version was the worst as far as ocr was concerned.

  18. Post Scan review and correction

During the correction process utilize a dictionary to look up words which contain most characters as determined by scan and in the same left to right order. Present these as choices to be picked rather than only allowing change via direct editing. Permit editing after a choice is made however because the choice might only be close.

So often I have seen "print" scanned as "primt" for instance. Since most text is words in a dictionary the correction process can offer alternative spellings with some high degree of probability that one of them is correct. This could also be used…

  19. OCR Messing up highlight and free form tool.

Behavior is on Windows 7 | Acrobat Pro XI version 11.0.23

When running OCR (English and Italian) previous drawing markups (Free Form Tool) and highlights are corrupted. Free forms were rotated 90 degrees and translated, while highlights were moved up about 2.5 lines. I attached a word document with screenshots of the behavior. This behavior messed up highlighting work by a professor at Indiana University.

  20. I have continuously had a problem with Adobe Acrobat crashing after I have added scanned files. I paid to update to newer version not help.

Adobe Acrobat Pro crashes often when scanning. This is an inherent problem with Adobe that they need to fix as I upgraded to newer version to avoid this and the problem is just as prevalent.

Sorry for the issue you are facing. Can you please share the crash logs.
To create crash logs please follow these steps.
    1. Create a folder “C:\temp”
    2. Download and extract http://download.sysinternals.com/files/Procdump.zip into C:\temp.
    3. Make sure no Acrobat instances are already running — check via Task Manager.
    4. Launch Acrobat
    5. Launch CMD prompt and type “cd c:\temp”
    6. On the command-prompt type: “procdump -e -ma Acrobat.exe c:\temp\01.dmp”. Procdump will now wait for the crash to happen.
    7. Perform the actions in Acrobat that cause it to crash.
    8. Procdump will have created c:\temp\01.dmp. Share the file.

    Thanks.
