“Bug: Adobe Acrobat Pro fails to open PDFs on read-only media (e.g., USB stick with write-protection enabled)”
I have run a series of tests on USB flash drives with PDFs where the USB flash drive was set to "read only" with the USB flash drive controller MPTools provided by the manufacturer.
When attempting to open the PDFs on the USB flash drive, Acrobat Reader works fine, but when opening with Acrobat Pro DC or later on the same PC, the following error message appears: ”could not open (file name) because it is either not a supported file type of because the file has been damaged”. The same files open without issue using other apps and also work with all Adobe products tested after the PDFs are copied from the USB flash drive to the desktop.
Although I cannot test with a replicated optical disc, I beleive the behavior would be the same on any media that is "read-only".
