Allow users to replace or hide the Windows login name shown in Acrobat Preflight reports.
Adobe Acrobat Preflight reports automatically include the Windows login name from Preferences > Identity. This field cannot be edited, replaced with a professional identity, or omitted from the report.
A Windows login name is not an appropriate external report identity. These reports are often shared with printers, clients, vendors, and other outside parties. Including the login name can unnecessarily disclose a valid system account name, an employee’s personal information, or an organization’s internal account-naming convention. It may also appear within local file paths elsewhere in the report.
Please add a separate identity setting for Preflight reports that allows users or administrators to:
- Enter a professional identity, such as “Angela Smith, Prepress Department”
- Use a company or department name
- Omit identifying information entirely
The report identity should be separate from the Windows login name and the Adobe account profile. Acrobat already allows users to specify an author identity for comments, so similar control should be available for externally shared Preflight reports.
This would preserve useful report attribution without unnecessarily exposing internal system information.
