Cannot connect to Adobe update server

Whenever I try Help/Check for Updates ... I get a message back that "Cannot connect to Adobe update server. Please verify that you are connected to the Internet and check for updates again." Obviously, I am on the Internet to make this post. What do I do?
Could you please let me know if you are on windows or mac?
This is the most ridiculous thing I've ever seen. It's a bad commentary on the Adobe company!

Same problem. I update manually from icon on toolbar.
