Hide Tools Pane
Provide ability to hide the Tools Pane to increase the field of content.
I review and markup engineering drawings and other documents. Some of these are quite large. I need the maximum amount of content in the window. As long as I can access the comment menu in the tool bar above, I have what I need.

Same issues here, annoying to have to close the All tools pane every time I open Adobe. I prefer seeing just my document, please fix to remember your preferences. I would switch to the old layout, but I had the impression that Adobe is rolling out the new interface as a standard, soon not to be optional?

With the new adobe, I have to do 5 steps before I get my pdf in the appropriate reading window. Step One is CLOSING ALL TOOLS, nothing in all tools is ever used, so I do not understand why it pops up on my left.

This is not a fix.
But for anyone else struggling with this ridiculously stupid issue, and isn't intent on moving away from Adobe
You can solve the issue by downgrading to the 'old' Acrobat Reader:
Click on the menu tab (3 bars top left) click on "Disable new Acrobat Reader" in menu tab.
Old Acrobat Reader works with "remember current state of tools pane" option for me.
On the unexpected plus side you don't have to use the death-by-a million-paper-cuts 'new' Acrobat Reader
