LiveCycle Interactive Forms Load Much Slower in Acrobat DC than Acrobat XI -- JavaScript Executes Slower
LiveCycle Designer created interactive forms open significantly slower in Acrobat Pro DC on Windows than they did in Acrobat Pro XI on Windows. Forms that would take 5 - 10 seconds to load in Acrobat Pro XI, now take between 30 - 60 seconds to load in Acrobat Pro DC (2019.021.20061).
Based on comparing performance of the identical scripts in both Acrobat XI and Acrobat DC, it appears that the JavaScript code in the initialize and calculate events are running 3 - 5x slower in Acrobat DC vs. Acrobat XI.
What changed in Acrobat DC that is making JavaScript code run so much slower in the newer version of Acrobat? Can anything be done to improve the performance?
A couple additional notes:
- Immediately after Acrobat is launched, the first form that is opened doesn't experience the same delay. It loads about 10 - 20 seconds. However, if that identical form is closed and then opened again, it takes 40 - 50 seconds. When opening a second form, it experiences the longer load time of 40 - 50 seconds. However, after exiting Acrobat and launching it again, the first form to be opened loads in 10 - 20 seconds.
- When loading the identical forms on a Mac (in Acrobat Pro 2019), they load fairly quickly, in about 5 - 10 seconds each. The performance is maintained even when multiple forms are open at the same time.
