Unable to see the file name in tab, Missing File / Edit bar
I miss the benefits of having the dedicated menu bar at the top. This new UI is too compact and it is causing a loss of communication.
1 - It was difficult to find the preferences menu as it is tucked into a small all-in-one menu. The Preferences pane did not allow me to turn on the typical application bar at the top of the page (File, Edit/ ...). I would like to be able to opt into this again. Firefox let's me turn this on.
2 - The file names are constrained to the tabs. Even when a tab is active, since I don't have the application bar at the top of the UI anymore, I can't see the full file name or enough of it. This is making it difficult to distinguish between different tabs with similar designs (with minor differences per audience). It is now very labourious to figure out which file is which. I miss being able to see this at a glance. Even when I hovered over the tab, the full file name was not shown in a pop-up tip. The only way I can see which file is which is by going into Menu > Document Properties, which is too many clicks for something that used to be plainly obvious. This has made what should have been printing out a few files in various copy counts from something mindless and quick to now unbearable.
PS - This textarea I am typing into is too short and can't be expanded. How is anyone supposed to detail a problem here?

I'm not an Adobe employee, but I want to say thanks for the detailed thoughts! These types of posts are much better than the generic "new UI sucks", which are guaranteed to come up no matter what you do.
Alas, changes like these are never optimized for those who are used to the old interface; their main goal has and will always be to give a different *first* impression to new users. In my eyes, that is unfortunate. Here are some "duct tape fixes" for the time being:
1. The menu bar being compacted into this singularity bar is weird and unfamiliar but not surprising. I like these bars when they are organized well, but when there's stuff like a giant long list it is a bit cluttered. I would suggest muscle-memorying the keyboard shortcuts (Ctrl+K for preferences, etc.) for now.
2. For me, there is a hover title that appears when I hover over long filenames; it's just that the little popup is modernized with white text on gray. You can also consider setting the PDF title, which will show on the tab bar instead of the filename should your application be set up that way.
In case you haven't found it yet, you can always revert back to the old UI for the time being if you would prefer it. Everybody who is used to the old UI is going to hate the new UI for some reason or another, so I hope they keep the old UI around for at least a reasonable amount of time.
P.S. Looks like you're not the only one to notice the questionable design choices of UserVoice. For some reason, Markdown formatting works in the post but not in the comments.
