Word save as pdf results in an error, the path of the document is too long
I frequently get the attached error message when selecting Save As PDF in Microsoft Word. It says that the path of the document is too long and to please save to a path with fewer than 255 characters. I believe there is an ancient limit in older versions of Windows that has been eliminated, but this bug still exists in Acrobat.
I am running the latest version of Acrobat under Windows 10 with the latest version of Word from Microsoft 365.
The workaround is to simply print the file to the Adobe PDF printer, but it would be nice to be able to Save As and have it work as expected.
Thanks for looking into this.

I am also experiencing this issue, and it has become increasingly disruptive in our workflow. Long file paths are a common reality in many professional environments, and the fact that Acrobat still fails on this limitation — while other applications handle it without issue — is genuinely frustrating.
This problem has been reported by multiple users over the course of years, and it would be reassuring to know that Adobe is actively addressing it. Relying on workarounds like printing to Adobe PDF is not a sustainable solution for teams that depend on accurate file names and consistent document handling.
Please prioritize a fix for this. Acrobat is a critical tool for many businesses, and we need it to support modern file path standards without errors.

I've had this same error for years and it is problematic to a law firm where file names are crucial. It is only Adobe - PLEASE update this problem and fix. We are considering moving to another program platform and discontinue PDF's it is so disruptive to our business.
