Make it possible to copy highlighted text
It should be possible to copy the text easily from a highlight. Right now, this is almost impossible. (One had to switch to the Edit tool). Why not create a Copy Highlight item in the context menu. Or, when one clicks on and selects a highlight, why not simply let CMD-C do the job?

I agree with everyone! I usually use Snagit to screenshot and use its Grab Text feature, which is very primitive and rarely what I need. It must be edited and takes eleventy-four clicks in three separate programs (Acrobat, Snagit, Snagit Editor). Acrobat should at LEAST be able to do that much! This is 2025. This issue was posted as critical by 17 people over the last 7+ years!
Adobe, keep up on your star, bread-winning product that's falling way behind modern technology. Please!
I LOVE your products, but honestly they are becoming dinosaurs (if not jokes) quickly. I miss the rock-solid FrameMaker, but nobody will use it now because you didn't update it. Everyone is running from your products to other, less-accurate, less-writer- and end-user-friendly products. And the results aren't being consumed by their intended users!

I literally have to take a screenshot and send to my phone so I can extract text from PDF files that were saved via "print as PDF"! When you go to highlight it's this big cursor that doesn't pick up the text---- PLEASE FIX!

I wonder what is the status of this issue. As of March 2024, it seems to be unsolved in the latest version of Acrobat Reader for Macs. It's still not possible to directly copy highlighted text, at least it doesn't seem to be obvious how to.

Cannot believe this has not been implemented yet. Such a quick fix. CMD+C on a highlighted segment is a must-have!

There is already a related preference for that. Preferences > Commenting > Choose the last one. "Copy selected text into Highlight, Strikethrough, Underline... etc.
That will put it into the pop up note, where it will be easy to copy.

Yes, yes, and yes. We highlight what's the most important and then have to fiddle to copy that. That should be Obvious to allow it. Perfectly with an option to include Document title or document name meta tag after the copied text that's enclosed in brackets. Such small quirks would make this really handy for my papers.
