Make Comments Toolbar Open Automatically/By Default
I would LOVE it if you folks could make the Comments Tool auto-open and/or by default somehow. I open lots and lots of pages every day and it would be really wonderful if the Comments just opened every time I opened a new doc.

It has not been implemented. Someone is not reading the request or other contributions.
I mark students' work submitted as PDFs all day long. For every document, I now have to make 3 clicks in various parts of the screen in order to make comments.
Why has Adobe deliberately made my life difficult? You didn't need to remove this tool. -

I agree that this idea was NOT "implemented." It should be user-controlled and apply to ALL comments, not just those that have existing comments. A user should be able to toggle among 3 defaults: "Open with Comments active", "Open with Comments active only if existing comments" and "Open with Comments inactive."

Adobe Photoshop is a raster graphic editor designed and published by Adobe Inc. For Windows and macOS. Photoshop now automatically finds all your Adobe fonts in your library when you open a Photoshop document.

This isn't helpful if it only open on PDFs that already have comments. We need to have an option to open ANY PDF with the comments toolbar pinned at the top by default.

I agree completely. It would be very, very, VERY helpful if there was a setting that would allow the user to customize the view so that the Comment toolbar (not the commenting pane, just the toolbar) would come up for every file.
You would think that Adobe would know how people actually use their product.

Wanted to add another comment.... This is what happens when you try to outsource your customer service overseas and then treat the outsourced employees like ***** labor. If you are going to outsource, please train them and pay them a decent enough amount that they actually care if things get taken care of that customers are asking for, like the comments toolbar issues posted here. Respectfully, thank you.

I completely agree that adobe reader lacks toolbar customization functionality. I need comments toolbar to be there every time I open the software please. Also, I cant seem to add comments tools to the main toolbar like I can with other tools. Please address these issues sooner than later. Thank you.

In my case, I'm perfectly happy with the way Adobe chose to implement this (I haven't actually tried the upgrade yet - I'm just responding to other comments here). In addition to documents that come to me with comments I need to see, I open plenty of random PDFs that have no comments, and in those cases I wouldn't want the pane to take up space.
But I suppose if Adobe wants to make everyone happy, in a future upgrade they could expand the setting to be a three-item radio selection instead of a checkbox:
Show Comments Pane upon opening document:
● Never
● If the document contains comments
● Always -

The fix does work but only for half of the problem. Why limit the automatic activation of the comment toolbar to files that already contain comments? I'm sure that will help a number of people, but those of us who actually mark up files using the comments toolbar are still at square one. Please, please, please make it possible to have the comments toolbar open automatically regardless of whether or not a file contains preexisting comments.

The implemented fix for this does work as described -- thank you! -- BUT this functionality would be most useful if the commenting toolbar could be set to open for *all* files when opened, not just for files with comments. (In my situation, I use Acrobat mainly to comment on files that do not already have comments, so I end up having to open the commenting toolbar again and again.)

It is far more better to have adobe reader just like photoshop or indesign with the ability to make one's special user interface, like essential or personal,..

A setting that would allow a user to designate the Edit Tool, for example, so that the Edit Tool would open automatically whenever the user opened a PDF.
