STOP Auto-Adding the useless desktop and start menu shortcut NO ONE Wants it, we are deleting it for a reason! I've never in 20+ years clicked on adobe reader icon to read a PDF.

It's annoying beyond belief

So no option to disable new icon on every update. After 10 mins of going through settings to disable auto updates - suprise no option to disable updates. Only logical solution is to uninstall and abandon.

I found this key in the registry. [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Adobe\Adobe Acrobat\DC\Installer]
"Disable_DesktopShortcut_AAM"="1"I am changing the "1" to a "0" I'll see what happens. I also added this key as well based on the Microsoft Edge shortcut on the desktop.
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Adobe\Adobe Acrobat]
"CreateDesktopShortcutDefault"=dword:00000000I'll let you know what happens.

It's sooooo annoying, if I ever wanna open adobe acrobat, surprise, I just DOUBLE CLICK ON THE FILE I WANNA OPEN, I don't need you to keep making a shortcut that I'll never use.

Like the others I've created an account just to vote on this annoying issue. BTW for people reading this, don't use your real email address if you're creating an account to vote, use something like temp-mail so you don't give adobe your personal details.

This is really doing my head in... I know in the grand scheme of things it's minor but, Adobe, really - why? It benefits you not one iota; anyone who wants the shortcut already has it, what do you get out of this apart from users who see this like an itch that we can't scratch? It's irritating, please, sort it out, it's not hard. At all.

I also want it to stop, it's really annoying, I have to put in my password every time, to delete it, too... I searched, and created an account.

it uninstalls Adobe Acrobat or else it gets the hose again...

Like others, I created an account just to comment and vote on this, and will uninstall Adobe if it persists.

Fully agree that the reappearing shortcut is an annoyance. I've never seen anyone launch Acrobat Reader from shortcut, because workflow is almost always to open a file from Explorer or a mail attachment.
It's particularly annoying on smaller screens - if every app did it, some desktop screens would become unusable. -

I have my own design of Windows desktop screen. I even don't mind having Adobe shortcut on Windows desktop, but it always repositions to the front-left -- very annoying.

what's the point of having a Adobe UserVoice if Adobe doesn't listen to user's voice? REMOVE THE ANNOYING ADDING OF ACROBAT DESKTOP ICON WITHOUT USER'S CONSENT AND NO IT'S NO A WINDOWS SETTING FIRE THAT ADOBE EMPLOYEE WHO SAID THAT

I have not found how to disable desktop icon creation after each Acrobat reader update. I have been using so many programs because of my work, but Acrobat reader is the only one that does this. This is unacceptable, I would consider it to be a bug. Why would I even need a desktop icon for a program that opens automatically when I open pdf files?

@Sven I agree.. just wanted to share with everyone how full of s**t Adobe is
-
Sven commented
@Mezar Chakawa - NO other app does this! Adobe is the only app on all my computers that does this every time it updates.

Adobe staff claims that this is a Windows setting..
Diksha (Adobe employee):
I understand your concern Mezar, but we don't have any feature lockdown also to prevent this from happening.
Also, this is window's default setting for the convenience of it's users. If you update any given application the shortcut will be formed.
I hope you understand that this is not us doing it. This is a system default setting from window's.
