How to Convert MBOX to PDF Manually?

To manually convert an MBOX file to PDF, you'll first need an email client that can open MBOX files—Mozilla Thunderbird is a popular free option that works on Windows, macOS, and Linux. After installing Thunderbird, you’ll need to add the "ImportExportTools NG" extension. This add-on allows you to import your MBOX file into Thunderbird. Once imported, you’ll see the emails appear under the "Local Folders" section. You can then select individual or multiple emails, right-click, and use the ImportExportTools NG menu to export them directly as PDF files. This is the most efficient manual method if you have many emails to convert.

If you're using a Mac, Apple Mail can also import MBOX files. You can do this by going to File > Import Mailboxes and selecting the MBOX format. Once imported, the emails will appear under "On My Mac." You can open each email and choose File > Export as PDF or print and save it as a PDF. However, Apple Mail doesn’t support batch export, so each email must be saved manually, which is more time-consuming.

Alternatively, any email client that supports MBOX and has a print feature can be used. Just open the email and select the option to print or save it as a PDF. This process, while manual, can be effective for small volumes of emails. For larger volumes, Thunderbird with the ImportExportTools NG extension remains the most practical free solution.

    You can manually convert MBOX to PDF using Mozilla Thunderbird. First, install Thunderbird on your computer. Then go to the menu, open "Add-ons and Themes," and search for "ImportExportTools NG." Add it to Thunderbird and restart the application.
    Next, import your MBOX file by right-clicking on "Local Folders," choosing "ImportExportTools NG," and selecting "Import MBOX file." Once your emails appear in Thunderbird, right-click the folder containing the emails.

    Now choose "ImportExportTools NG" again, then "Export all messages in a folder," and select "PDF format" followed by "Messages index and subfolders." Choose a location to save the PDF, give it a name, and click "Select Folder."

    Thunderbird can open MBOX files and let you change them to PDF files manually. You can get Thunderbird for free.

    The next thing you need to do is get an add-on called ImportExportTools NG.
    To bring in your MBOX files after adding the add-on, right-click on "Local Folders," choose "ImportExportTools NG," and then click "Import MBOX file."

    Press "A" while holding down the Ctrl key to select all of the emails. With the same add-on, right-click again and choose "Export all messages in the folder > PDF format."

    You can save your emails as PDFs wherever you like.

    This process could take a long time if you have a lot of MBOX files or very large emails. It might also not keep files and formats in the same way.

    You could use a program like TrustVare MBOX to PDF Converter to change a lot of files at once. This way, it will work better and faster. You can save the emails as PDFs with just a few clicks, and nothing will convert about them.
